The Representative Who Can Rescue [Romans 16]
Romans 5:15-21 // Ben Beasley
In our passage today we find Paul continuing his excursus on Adam that we had last week. And he assumes that the reader knows the story of Adam. When Paul says Adam is a type, he is setting up a contrast between Adam and Christ. In our passage today we are going to see three contrasts which are: We are separated through rejection, but are welcomed through receiving; Our death comes from the first man, but our life comes from the perfect man; and our sin is great, but God’s grace is always greater. God’s grace through Jesus is a free gift. But it’s only yours if you reach out to it. You’ve got to reach. God’s grace is enough. Will you receive it?

Hebrews 2:5-9 The Humility of the Son
Why did God become Man? Since our dignity and dominion were ruined by a man, by a man they must be restored. I. What does it mean to be human? It means Dignity and Dominion, vv5-8. II. What has our rebellion against God brought? Disorder and Death, v8b. III. So what did Jesus do? He came to restore us. He tasted death for us that he might give us life, v9.
Way of Love for March - Jesus, The Second Adam Resets Humanity
Lent Week 1
Listen to Cn Tim's sermon: Jesus, The Second Adam Resets Humanity
As we enter Lent, Tim shares a beautiful picture of Jesus as the Second Adam who resets humanity in the wilderness and gives us a way to authenticity.
In today's gospel story, Jesus, the second Adam, is out among the wild beasts in the wilderness. Just as the first Adam was with the beasts. Like Adam in the Garden again. Where we failed before in the temptation, Jesus then resets the human being within himself while facing the same kind of temptations that Adam faced. Jesus, in connection privately with his heavenly father, shows us the way, and makes a way for all humanity.

Conservative Friends Bible Study of Mark #13 Chapter 08 Verse 34 - 38, Chapter 09 Verse 1
This session returns to and focuses on Mark 8:34 to Mark 8:38. The meanings of the words follow, deny, self and awe are examined. Some historical context concerning physical crucifixions are presented, followed by a discussion of “taking up the inward cross”. There is also discussion on the creation of Adam, the garden of Eden and on sin. An important point is made, however, that Friends have not accepted the later dogma of "original sin". You Are a Life-Giving Spirit!
The soul is tied to this world. It's made up of our experiences, thoughts, our hurts, victories, our stories. We all have these. But something truly happened when we became new creations in Christ. We became something more than just a soul man. We became a life-giving spirit. Let's learn to elevate our spirit man (the one who identifies with Jesus) above our soul man (who identifies with Adam and this flesh world).
