When it feels like God's promises are not being fulfilled and there's temptation to call it quits, what is there for believers to hold on to? At the start of several proclamations through Malachi, God testifies to His unfailing love for Israel, as the sure hope for Israel, as the sure hope for Israel and all nations.

Today we are beginning a study on the last book of the Old Testament - Malachi. To have a proper place to begin this study on this very important yet short book of the Bible we need to have an understanding of the context of the day. So today's message is to set the stage, so to speak, of the conditions of the people that Malachi was speaking to. I believe that as we go through this study we will see how relevant it is to our lives today. Recognize this is the last time God spoke to his Jewish people for a period of 400 years, so it's easy to think that God has something pretty important say. Listen in and let's study together...

We start a new series on the Book of Malachi. Malachi has the distinction of being the last book of the Old Testament and the last “word” from God before 400 years of silence between the Old and New Testaments. The common phrase we see throughout the book is “says the Lord of hosts" as God addresses His concerns about empty religious activity, unfaithful priests, and yet, His faithful love and plans for His people.

What happens when we begin to blame God for the things in our life that we don’t like? Throughout this new series on the book of Malachi we’ll be diving deeply into the unchanging faithfulness of God and discovering together what happens when we lose a proper perspective.
