series: resurrection day

In this sermon, Pastor Keith explains how the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is a historical event that brings us God’s salvation, power, victory and hope in this life and beyond.

Verse: He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” Luke 24:6-7 Summary: Jesus had spoken about his death & resurrection several times. At other times, He spoke in a general sense of the resurrection of the dead. But, his disciples had not “heard” what he was saying. On Resurrection Day, they were puzzled when they saw the empty tomb.

God's glory was displayed through Christ raising the dead and His sympathetic response to those grieving, so that we might get glimpse of glory and believe in Jesus. Jesus is sympathetic, Jesus is sovereign and Jesus is the source of life!

“For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:6 NLT) Summary: Too often the significance of the Resurrection is overlooked or distorted. Too often it is a celebration of spring. I believe that there are many who say that they believe in the resurrection of Christ but do not take it seriously.

Sin is the ultimate problem of the human race. The Cross of Jesus Christ is the ultimate answer. In rising from the dead, Christ is victorious over sin. When we trust His work on the Cross, our sins are washed away. Our sin is forgiven.

We typically look at those who were immediate eyewitnesses to Christ’s resurrection. Today, I want us to look at the unique account of Paul’s eyewitness as he defended himself before King Agrippa. Paul’s defense here makes two main points about the resurrection:

Because Christ died for our sins, was buried, and raised from the dead: Christ’s resurrection provides hope!
