What Improved My Dark Spots/Texture in Days: Acaderma- A Clean Beauty Brand Supported by Science with CEO & Co-Founder, Dr. Shuting Hu

What Improved My Dark Spots/Texture in Days: Acaderma- A Clean Beauty Brand Supported by Science with CEO & Co-Founder, Dr. Shuting Hu

Hi everyone. I hope you're keeping safe, healthy, and hanging in there. Sending love your way and my thoughts are with you.

    -----

This week's Hello Beauty guest is Acaderma's CEO & Co-Founder, Dr. Shuting Hu. Dr. Hu is a post-doctoral researcher and scientist that developed Acaderma, a cosmeceutical brand that meets at the intersection of academic research and botanical skincare to find better solutions for healthy skin alternatives. Acaderma is a clean beauty brand that adopts a clean behavior from start to finish.  What this means is that being clean to them is meaningful because they are mindful of how they develop their ingredients and other materials that ensure less pollution and waste to the environment. Their formulas are not only safe for people, but for the environment as well.

It should be noted that She was awarded the prestigious 2013 Henry Maso Young Cosmetic Scientist Award for her research of “Activity and mechanism of natural resorcinol type phenolics from the twigs of Cudrania tricuspidata as skin whitening agents” by The International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC). Dr. Hu's passion radiates as she talks about the careful development of her products. It takes her around 3 years to commercialize the ingredients and to scale up the technology! This shows how much importance is placed on research, study, and discovering novel ingredients to develop maximum efficacious products. Acaderma's Star Light Spot Corrector is my ultimate favorite (if I had to pick one, but I honestly am a fan and believer of her entire line!) because I have seen my dark spots noticeably decrease in size in just as quick as 3 days! As a scientist, she is able to bring her expertise to the brand as she knows what ingredients will work best together. I learned that it's enough to only use serums in your skincare regimen and that you can do away without using moisturizer! In this episode, we learn about one of their most special ingredient, the African Kinkeliba, which grows only in the West Africa Sub-Sahara region. She also talks about Acaderma's relationship with African local non-government organizations (NGOs) to provide educational opportunities and a platform with a social impact.

EP 14: Naturally Radiant Skin With Skincare Expert Jenna Levine of LINNÉ Botanicals

EP 14: Naturally Radiant Skin With Skincare Expert Jenna Levine of LINNÉ Botanicals

How can we care for our skin naturally? And, why does it matter what we put on our skin in the first place? We’ll answer these questions and more as we dive into the world of natural skincare with Jenna Levine of LINNÉ Botanicals. Jenna turned a childhood passion into a career when she started her line of non-toxic skincare named after famed Swedish Botanist Carl Von Linné. Whether you are a skincare superfan who wants to build upon your knowledge or, someone who doesn’t know much about skincare and skincare practices at all (ahem, me), I know you’ll love this episode.

In this episode, Jenna shares how her background in botany and permaculture offered amazing foundational knowledge for starting LINNÉ Botanicals. We discuss how to properly source and use essential oils, why you can use all the oils on your skin and it can still be dry, retinol and where it exists in nature, how to massage out wrinkles, what to do if you have acne prone skin and are afraid to switch to natural products, how to shop for non-toxic skincare, to sunscreen or not to sunscreen, proper exfoliation practices and so much more.

    QUOTES:

"I think the whole term anti-aging is funny. How wonderful to be alive and to be aging gracefully." - Jenna Levine
