    Elaine is a Sewover50 follower and she gives her perspective about Black History Month. She sees that she wants to know more about Black History both in the US and in her home country in the UK. Black History Month in the UK is recognised in October each year and she's suggested listeners go to Black History Month UK website and Black Poppy Rose .

    Elaine began following Sewover50 when it was first started because she has learnt about Sewover50 through joining the Sewcialists. Elaine refers to her sewing machines as her toys and she's been able to sew her designer inspired dreams as a Minerva Maker.

    Elaine recognises that she has found her sewing community through Sewover50 and enjoys the connection with sewists who are over 50 and want to stay visible.

    Maria Yap is back for Sewover50 Thursday to guide us through her sewing creative process. She admits she is an emotional fabric buyer and this means when Maria has a sewing project in mind, she has the fabrics to start her gorgeous makes.

    Jen talked about her experience on the Great British Sewing Bee series 5 and how this experience gave her much more sewing confidence and some very accomplished sewing friends that she continues to keep in contact with.

    Jayne Wright says that being part of Sewover50 is like having 'fabric penpals'. You'll know her as Janyeraven  There's a very local story about how Jane's IG name came about.

    Jane may have only started sewing 2 years ago but you'll appreciate why she decided to become sewing obsessed.

    Jayne created her own local sewover20 group with her daughter and their friends. She will reuse fabrics etc where possible but Jayne will by her fabrics locally and she sources wool from Yorkshire or New Zealand.

    Make sure you follow The Sewing Resistance, run by Jayne, Vintage Tina and Steinmakes. They're a global textile project giving a voice to hopes and dreams. Make sure you read about Arpilleras too.

    You may already be a fan of Saremy Duffy through her live stream tutorial via Sewsewlive Saremy found Sewover50 when she started using Instagram and she's found how honest, open and supportive the Sewover50 community really is.

    Saremy talks about her sewing goals and they're very specific as she lives in a fire prone area. Her go-to bag sewing is fascinating. Her mother's story about what she has saved from her recent house fire is very touching.

    Judith Staley of Sewover50 discusses this quick and fun challenge developed by Sandy Bach of Sewover50 was run over one weekend in April 2020. It was fast, simple and needed at the time of social isolation. The aim of the challenge was to sew something to cover up your hair and more importantly, have a bit of fun.

SewOver50 group of dedicated volunteers have been running since August 2018. Judith Staley is the founder and she picked up the call from @sewcialists to identify a group for equality within the sewing world.
