Episode 19: Unlocking the Power of Music in Sex Addiction Therapy with Therapist Jim Cress

Sex addiction is incredibly destructive, both on the person suffering the addiction and their spouses or partners. Many men struggle to even quantify that they have a problem when they go to see a therapist. So how do therapists get through to men struggling with sex addiction? What  role can music play in this kind of therapy?

We are so bless to have Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, Jim Cress, on today's episode to talk to us about this. Jim explains the impact music can have in the sessions and lives of sex addicts, and how music can break down the barriers men have built up over the course of their addiction.

Men who have experienced trauma after their partner has an abortion have often struggled to find help, both in terms of the quality of treatment and from their hesitation to seek help through counseling. Our guest on today's show, Licensed Counselor, Greg Hasek, speaks about his personal trauma after his partner got an abortion and what lead him to begin studying and treating men suffering with trauma from abortion and sexual addiction. He also shares why he believes music is such a potent tool for men experiencing trauma.

He breaks down why this experience can create a great level of trauma in men, and also how things like sexual addiction can feed into this trauma further.
