Season 2 Episode 2: Let’s EFFing Have These Conversations!

Season 2 Episode 2: Let’s EFFing Have These Conversations!

In this episode, we decided to have a conversation between us about what came up for us after watching the Pamela Anderson documentary.  The topic of sexualization is a tough thing to talk about, but we felt it was an important conversation to have since we both have daughters and want to try to raise them to know that their looks are not all they have to offer.  We have both struggled in finding our own value outside of that since it was all the validation we got growing up.  So, it is important for us to change that narrative for our girls.  We would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this topic, so please reach out to us via our instagram at @theeffitmadres, or email us at connect@theeffitmadres.com.

    Sexualization of America's Children

    Sexualization of America's Children

Since at least the 1960s if not before, concerted efforts have been made to normalize sexuality among children, first the birds and bees, and now far beyond this to include perverted, twisted, immoral, licentious free-for-all sex for children and youth. This is happening daily in America's public schools, it's happening even more extensively and pervasively via the Internet, and it is happening in children's and youth product advertising, entertainment, and more. The consequence of this is not just prudish adults standing around saying, "Tsk Tsk," but a host of mental and physical health problems now rampant among America's children and youth: low self esteem, anxiety, depression, teen pregnancy, sexual abuse, suicide, and more. Sexualizing children is evil, but like a lot of things in American culture, it boils down to sin and money. For more Christian commentary, check my website at rexmrogers.com.

How is an overprotected ballerina on the brink of a major career coup like an up-and-coming director with a huge debut thriller on her hands? It’s not a riddle — it’s the topic of today’s episode with Chloe Okuno, director of the brand new movie WATCHER. She’s talking about how she sees herself in Natalie Portman’s Nina Sayers in BLACK SWAN.

The After Show: The Sexualization of Girls

The After Show: The Sexualization of Girls

After every live recording, we find ourselves often having intense, post-show conversations. And, for our subscribers,  we decided to leave the record button on so you can listen in. So, go ahead and hit that subscribe button and you’ll never miss any of our Shenanigans

In our live show, S3 E17 Covid and Living Wills, we had nurse practitioner Dr. Marjorie Simpson share with us what she’s seeing in the hospitals and nursing homes and she expressed how important it is to make sure you have designated someone to manage your care if you become incapacitated. We also talked about Joe Rogan, Ronald McDonald House evictions, and the man walking around with a pig heart in his chest. The story that carried over into The After Show was Middle schoolers in Mississippi being asked to wear shapewear to help with their body image. Dr. Simpson stuck around and our discussion got really deep into the sexualization of little girls with me asking the ladies, "When was the first time you, as little girls, felt sexualized."

Ep. #16 | Sex for Grades A case study on Ghana, On the backdrops of African traditional gender roles, internalized misogyny, female genital mutilation Ft. Tshima
She's back! Welcome back! My sister and I are back in this two-episode special. In this episode, we dig into how sex-for grades have become a thing in Africa and how men are using their positions of power to assault and exploit their female students, with our lens shifting specifically to Ghana. What is the kind of environment that even allows for something like this to happen? We look at the role of African Traditionalism with its customs such as female genital mutilation and imposed gender roles and how these perpetuate internalized misogyny and the abandonment of young women in Africa.

Ep. #15 | The Objectification and Over-sexualization of Women, the Role Social Media Plays and the Power of the Male Gaze ft Tshima

Ep. #15 | The Objectification and Over-sexualization of Women, the Role Social Media Plays and the Power of the Male Gaze ft Tshima
This episode is one for the books, featuring arguably my favorite person in the world talking about a topic that we are both very curious and interested in. You know you cannot scroll through Instagram without coming across some boodies and titties, it's all the rage, it's all the likes and it's all the fluence and all the follows. Are women now objectifying themselves, and does this make it, okay seeing as it's on our terms, or is the male gaze still the stirrer of all this shit and if so, is self-objectification then really not that empowering. Lets talk about it!
