Sustainable grooves, why sustainability matters at music festivals

Sustainable grooves, why sustainability matters at music festivals

In this episode of Festival Sounds, I'm joined by Eloise, our incredible well informed guest who is helping me with a deep dive into sustainability. Join us as we uncover the practical and innovative ways in which festivals across the UK are embracing eco-friendly practices, from reducing plastic waste to embracing renewable energy sources.

Discover how these festivals are minimising their environmental footprint,  We'll share stories of change, shedding light on the small yet impactful decisions made by both organisers and attendees to create a more sustainable festival experience.

    Poetry Slam Part 1.

From lyrical luminaries to rising stars and everything in between, here’s a selection of Sunday's poetry slam with more coming in part 2. Heads up: part of this material is raw, sweary and contains language which some may find offensive.

    Shambala Buddhism Parts 1 & 2

    Shambala Buddhism Parts 1 & 2
Once again, I find an ancient cassette tape of 2 episodes we broadcasted back in the early days. I have no idea of when we did these, but surely sometime between 2000-2006. And keep in mind that our guest is local, and discusses meditation sanghas here in West Michigan. Any phone numbers or websites shared are not current. But the insights Robert Walker shares here are worthy of being shared all these years later.

Nick Hayes and Amy-Jane Beer work together on the Right to Roam campaign. This argues for  greater equality and access to green and blue space. Nick and Amy-Jane ask why do we need the right to roam and why is river access in England so restricted?

Nick Hayes is author of The Sunday Times bestseller: The Book of Trespass and The Trespasser’s Companion: A Field Guide to Reclaiming What is Already Ours.

Amy-Jane Beer is author of The Flow: Rivers, Water and Wildness:

Ep 11 Festivals: Leaving Less Mess with Simon Heppner

Ep 11 Festivals: Leaving Less Mess with Simon Heppner

Festival season - we all love it. Lots of fun, lots of music, lots of... mess. From plastics, to glass, to tents, less than a third of this waste is recycled, however, over the last few years many festival organisers have been taking steps to minimise their environmental impact. Even @glastofest made a statement this year by banning single-use plastic bottles. But is it enough? What else can we do as consumers?⠀

This episode, we talk to Simon Heppner, one of the people driving the sustainable festival movement. He is a co-founder of ‘Leave Less Mess’ - the UK’s first festival plate deposit return scheme - and @foodmadegood. ⠀

Listen for tips on how to make your festival experience more sustainable this year.

Don't forget! Please rate, review, subscribe and share to help us reach more people and open up the conversation on sustainability.⠀
