Gideon's Army and God's Glory - The Book of Judges

Gideon's Army and God's Glory - The Book of Judges

In this Bible Story, Gideon leads Israel’s people into victory over the Midianites with only 300 men. Peace then reigns in the land for over forty years. This story is inspired by Judges 7-8. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.

Today's Bible verse is Judges 7:7 from the King James Version.

Episode 63: The once cowardly Gideon is now commander of a rather large Israelite army. So large in fact, that God refuses to use the whole army, lest they think it was their might that saved the day. Soon God had whittled down the army to a mere 300 men and with that 300 men we see a reminder that it is not by our might but by God’s that rescue and salvation happen.

Gideon the Trivial Judge - The Book of Judges

Gideon the Trivial Judge - The Book of Judges

In this Bible Story, Gideon, a cowardly and weak man, finds strength in God. He is filled with enough bravery to summon an army against the Midianite horde and go into battle. This story is inspired by Judges 6. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.

Today's Bible verse is Judges 6:37 from the King James Version.

Episode 62: Israel lived in peace for a time, worshiping God for his rescue of their lives but slowly the worship of idols again invaded their worship and as it did, so did the darkness of oppression. Midianites soon began pillaging and plaguing the Israelites, so much so that they needed to hide their food under tents and in wine presses. In one of these wine presses stood the man who God would use to save Israel, Gideon, a man who teaches us that God can use the weakest and most self-doubting person to accomplish His will and save His people.

Episode 227: Matthew 12 Part 3 Show Us A Sign!

Episode 227: Matthew 12 Part 3 Show Us A Sign!
The Pharisees just don't seem to get it. Sparring with Jesus is not a good thing but this time they bring some help--some teachers of the law. Surely these bible thumpers can outsmart God Himself! Nope...They demand a sign to prove to them that Jesus' authority comes from God like he claims. Jesus tells them the only sign they'll get is the sign of Jonah, a prophet they'd be familiar with. He says just as Jonah was in the fish's belly for three days, the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth for three days. He was talking about his death, burial, and resurrection but they didn't understand that. Jesus tells them they have someone greater than Jonah but they refuse to repent and they have someone wiser than Solomon but they refuse to listen. God isn't sending you a sign when He has already sent His Son! You either believe or you don't!

2 Samuel Part 10: Hearts Under Siege

2 Samuel Part 10: Hearts Under Siege

One of the most vulnerable times in life is when we feel despised, overlooked, or under-appreciated.  In these seasons our hearts may tend to follow after worthless promises.  The good news is that there is a promise of freedom for all those who will turn to Christ from those worthless ways of living.  It was true for the people of the city of Abel in 2 Samuel 20, and it is still true today.  Together, we can find freedom in even the most difficult circumstances.

    Table of Nations

    Table of Nations
EPISODE 17 (Guest: Christine G) - The genealogy chart given in the tenth chapter of Genesis, popularly known as "The Table of Nations," is important because it is the first chapter which firmly places the Bible on a historical footing, since many of the names contained within it can be directly correlated with ancient cities and tribes known to historians today.

    2 Samuel 20 "Double Rebellion"

    2 Samuel 20 "Double Rebellion"
This sermon tells the story of a man named Sheba who incited a rebellion against the kingdom. As David organizes his men who will eventually put an end to the rebellion, we see another rebel emerge within the story. Joab's rebellion is not overt like Sheba's, neither is it an obvious lack of loyalty for David. Instead, Joab's rebellion is seen in his lack of love for David and the disobedience that follows.Support the show
