Harnessing Intention and Vision: Walking Into a New Future

Harnessing Intention and Vision: Walking Into a New Future

Ever felt stuck in old patterns, unable to tap into the person you envision yourself to be? Jana Shelfer and I, Jason Shelfer,  had the joy of participating in a beach walking meditation guided by Joe Dispenza yesterday.  It was life changing for us both, but especially for Jana. She's a paraplegic and has never walked on the beach with her toes in the sand. This transformative experience opened my eyes to how focusing on our vision boards and setting clear intentions can pave the path to our desired future. This episode takes you along on our journey of self-transformation, revealing how we can create the life we crave by shifting our thinking, feeling, and acting patterns.

Could you imagine uniting and connecting with yourself and others on a profound level, all the while accessing your future self? This is the power of Joe Dispenza's worldwide walking meditation. We reflect on our overwhelming feelings of love and gratitude and discuss the challenges of remembering our vision of the future. As part of this exploration, we delve into how Joe’s meditations offer an opportunity to become a part of a unified, global movement. So, let's journey together in this transformative episode as we unlock how to constantly reaffirm and actualize our vision of the future and step into it boldly.

    A Different Way To Pray

    A Different Way To Pray

Welcome to another episode of Navigate the Day! Today, we're diving into a different way to pray, inspired by the timeless wisdom of Marcus Aurelius.

In a world that often encourages us to seek personal gain or harm others in our pursuits, Marcus Aurelius offers a profound perspective shift. Instead of demanding outcomes that serve our desires, he invites us to embrace a more virtuous and self-improving approach to life.

What does it mean to pray differently? It's about moving from a mindset of egocentricity to one of self-control, emotional resilience, and ethical behavior. It's a call to cultivate inner virtue and wisdom through prayer and self-reflection.

Today's journal prompt asks us a crucial question: Are you praying—or demanding? It's easy to fall into the trap of demanding things from the universe, believing that reality should bend to our will. But Marcus Aurelius reminds us that true happiness comes from within, not from external sources.

As we navigate the complexities of life, we must learn to frame our perspectives and impressions of events in a way that serves our inner growth and contentment. Instead of wishing ill for others, we can seek ways to release negative feelings, fostering inner peace and resilience.

Rather than demanding that reality conforms to our desires, let's aspire to be better equipped to meet reality on its terms. Embracing life's challenges allows us to forge a path towards a more meaningful and purposeful existence.

By shifting our focus from trying to prevent fear and anxiety to building the strength to overcome them, we regain control of our lives. We can choose which thoughts to entertain and which ones to dismiss, ultimately shaping our own destinies and living fulfilled lives.

So, dear listeners, let's explore this different way to pray, one that leads us on a journey of self-discovery, emotional well-being, and empowerment. Join me on this inspiring episode of Navigate the Day as we uncover the wisdom of Marcus Aurelius and chart a course toward a more meaningful life.

Stay tuned for more enlightening episodes of Navigate the Day, where we explore the wisdom of ancient philosophers to navigate the challenges of modern life.

Thank you for listening and joining me on my journey of self-discovery!

Seeing Rescue Dogs in a Different Light: A NYE Party with Brittnie Battle

Seeing Rescue Dogs in a Different Light: A NYE Party with Brittnie Battle

Here’s a hard truth: whether we do it intentionally or not, we tend to think of rescue dogs as “broken." It may not be a conscious thought. It might not be deliberate. But our behaviors often show that this belief is there inside of us. This week we're bringing back Brittnie Battle of Charlie’s Angels Saving Animals (CASA), a 501c3 non-profit rescue transport organization in Tennessee, to share insight on how we can look inward and shift our mindset about rescue dogs.

Jenny and Katya catch up with Brittnie and explore a wide range of topics from kennel cough to caring for sick dogs to how shelters with limited resources do it, how they go on, when they can sometimes barely meet the basic needs of the animals in care. The trio discusses if these same dogs, many who experience a reality of scarcity in their environment, can bounce back and heal from the learned desperation and possibly from learned resource guarding, and how that kind of guarding may differ from dogs with a genetic predisposition to resource guard.

Still, these ladies manage to keep things lighthearted and get back to chatting about whether “ugly” dogs (and cats) exist. Spoiler alert: they do! But they insist that there's magic to ugliness and that of course it doesn't mean these animals are any less lovable. Brittnie even shows how “ugliness” can be embraced by introducing Katya and Jenny to Mandu the Warthog Dog! Finally, Brittnie, Jenny, and Katya reveal their New Year resolutions and invite their listeners to donate and help CASA Transport and Better Together Dog Rescue reach their 2023 goals.

Happy new year, wonderful community of animal lovers. Big changes are coming next year and we can't wait to share more with you.
