Welcome to the Fore Golfers Network Podcast Ep 361 - Introducing The Detroit Putter Company
During the Michigan Golf Show in Novi, thousands of golf fanatics perused the great deals on trips, clubs, clothing, and all things golf - as part of the nation's largest consumer golf expo.
But perhaps the most intriguing exhibit came from a new player on the golf scene - The Detroit Putter Company. This family-founded group combines a passion for the game with a unique engineering and design background that has led them to produce a remarkably gorgeous and effective line of putters that are quickly drawing comparisions to what "Shinola" has done with watches.
You'll hear the DPC origin story and have a chance to win a great prize package, so enjoy this introduction to an exciting Michigan-based company and be sure to get your entry sent in before 10p on Saturday, March 11!

Live and in person are back — and Vivid Seats is ready to connect fans with their bucket list events. The ticket resale exchange competes in a crowded field by offering a rewards program for fans who purchase tickets to events on the platform.
The loyalty network is the result of work overseen by CMO Tyra Neal, who joined the company in 2021 to build out its marketing function. The team was solid when it came to performance marketing, but has since expanded to new areas such as brand, creative and influencer.
In this episode of Campaign Chemistry, Neal talks about how the return to live events has impacted Vivid Seats’ business. She also discusses the recent Ticketmaster saga regarding Taylor Swift’s upcoming tour and talks about her previous role at DTC watch brand Shinola.

Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel wants to build a new jail, because the current one is a squalid death trap. On June 19, he plans to ask a special meeting of the county board of commissioners’ Records and Public Safety panel for approval of the $375 million project, plus the OK of ballot language for a tax to pay for the bonds that would pay for it.
It’s not clear how much the tax millage would be or whether this would constitute a tax increase for residents. But for a generally tax-averse county, this one could get problematic, fast.
Oh, and there’s a new attempt to thwart the new Gordie Howe International Bridge, this time via an addition to a state budget bill that would prohibit the state from spending any money to finance its half of construction. You know, even though Canada is reimbursing us 100% of the costs. Will wonders never cease?

Christine Gachot credits much of her success with being in the right place at the right time. She worked on memorable projects like Gucci with Bill Sofield and helped André Balazs launch the Standard in New York before founding Gachot with her husband, John, in 2012. Since then, they've helped shape brands like Glossier, Eaton Workshop, and most recently Shinola, which opened its first upscale hotel in Detroit this year.

The last piece of the new Shinola Hotel will open its doors Monday when The Brakeman starts pouring beers inside its new digs on the corner of John R and Farmer in downtown Detroit.
It’s part of a new wedge-shaped building that took over a former surface parking lot, and it’s an airy, light-filled space, thanks to several garage-door windows that will be able to roll up when the weather warms up.
On this episode of the Daily Detroit podcast, spirits advisor Nuri Gocay and I speak with partners Joshua Pickard and Luke Ostrom from New York-based NoHo Hospitality Group, about Detroit’s newest beer hall concept.
It’ll feature a rotating list of Midwestern and Michigan craft beers, a full bar, and fried chicken and other eats from the adjacent Penny Red’s. It’s definitely a nice addition to a fast up-and-coming corner of downtown.
We have a bunch of pictures up on Daily Detroit as well: http://www.dailydetroit.com/2019/03/21/a-look-inside-the-beautiful-brakeman-beer-hall/

A Hollywood film director makes a giant splash at the Oscar Awards when he says Shinola is “saving Detroit” and the interweb asplodes. We talk about what that ridiculous, off-the-cuff comment means about the city and its nascent comeback.
There’s a lot more news to be had on today’s episode. We also discuss that Medium blog post announcing a new bodega — that’s essentially New York City parlance for “party store” — for the hard-hit Russell Woods neighborhood on Detroit’s west side. It’ll reportedly be part of a larger development, and the post ends with the hashtag, #MakeTheHoodGreatAgain.
