Top Washington and Tony Cope - Voicemails to My Future Self

In this episode I interview Michael "Top" Washington and Tony Cope. Top Washington is a Marine Corps and Firefighter veteran, who is a big advocate for mental health and is also a licensed therapist. Tony Cope is the Founder and Director at Myriad, a video production company based out of North Carolina. Together, the two teamed up to create a short film about a veteran and his "wingman" called Voicemails to My Future Self Vol. 2. With Tony as director and writer and Top as a creative consultant, they were able to produce this short yet powerful film about veteran suicide and the friends that come to their rescue.

Ep. 004: CITY OF FLOWERS, conversation with filmmaker Xeph Suarez

Ep. 004: CITY OF FLOWERS, conversation with filmmaker Xeph Suarez

Set during the Zamboanga Siege in 2013, City of Flowers is a Christian-Tausug couple's struggle to raise money for the imminent birth of their child, and how they are made vulnerable to abuse because of their circumstances.

Screen Cap hosts Cenon Obispo Palomares & Avie Felix, and guest co-host Ned Trespeces, talk to filmmaker Xeph Suarez. He shares how the stories he learned while working as a volunteer researcher for a major national newspaper when his hometown was under attack inspired him to make this film. City of Flowers was part of Anima Short Filmlab, and a finalist at QCinema 2021 and Cinemalaya 2022.

    1.10: Melody Time (1948)

    1.10: Melody Time (1948)

The musical anthologies return, with 1948's Melody Time. Rehana is joined by Niamh Williams, who was delightfully surprised by this film: in particular, a boogie-loving bumble bee, some meditative time with trees, and her newfound favourite lil tug-boat, Lil Toot. There's plenty of giggles, and plenty of confusion, as the girls traverse through these 7 short musical films.
