Jane Menton is a lifelong New Yorker and current resident of Queens, where she sits on the board of her co-op. In this episode, Jane, the mother of two young children, explains why New York City’s Local Law 97, which mandates huge emissions reductions from buildings, is an “electrification monster” that will be “ruinously expensive” and could result in electricity shortages and a “humanitarian nightmare.” (Recorded August 29, 2023.)     

Matt Brandrup heads the Rural Electric Supply Cooperative, a Wisconsin-based coop that provides utility products to electric coops in several states in the Midwest. In this episode, Brandrup talks about the “staggering increases” he is seeing in the cost of transformers, conductors, and other utility products (up an average of 18% in 2022 alone), transformer shortages, labor shortages, the special types of steel needed by the industry, and why tight market conditions are likely to persist for years to come. On today's Breitbart News Daily podcast, we begin with the vetting of Kathy - Kathy Barnette - that is. The outsider candidate who is in a three-way dogfight in the Pennsylvania GOP Senate primary. She's been largely unvetted to this point, despite the fact that election day is next week. Donald Trump, who has endorsed one of her opponents (Dr. Oz), has warned that if she wins the primary the Democrats will be very excited about the general election. Pres. Trump is probably correct here, but it is, of course, a bit ironic for him to say it. Then, we get into the latest on the baby formula shortage crisis. Reports of pallets of formula are being sent to our southern border, which is essentially a subsidy to the cartels, who smuggle children to America. Mind you, we can't even get enough formula to American stores. And that isn't the only supply chain crisis we're seeing. Intravenous contrast solution, which is necessary for all sorts of medical functions, is now in sparse supply and our dependence on China is almost entirely to blame. We explain. Plus, Pres. Biden is refusing to allow for new drilling permits despite soaring energy prices, abortion radicalism has subsumed the Democrat Party, and masks are returning in schools. All of that, plus much more in the opening of the podcast. Two guests today - first, Breitbart Tech Editor Colin Madine makes an emergency appearance to report and analyze the breaking news that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has put his deal to buy Twitter on hold. Colin is a Musk skeptic, but we all are complimentary of this move, at least as of now. We explain. Then, Breitbart Economics Editor John Carney breaks down the latest Bidenflation numbers, which were even worse than expected, and then he helps us make some sense of the baby formula shortage.
