In The Field with Jay Elle Music

In The Field with Jay Elle Music

Ever wrestled with the pressure to conform? Brooklyn's powerhouse Jay Elle Music, doesn't just wrestle with it; she throws it out of the ring. Erin Boogie & Lady D resonated with her unyielding stance on women empowerment and authenticity, as she shared her journey from a girl group member to a solo artist who refuses to be boxed in. With her bold refusal to bend to the music industry's male-dominated norms, she's a beacon of self-acceptance, encouraging listeners to stay true to their identity regardless of societal expectations.

    "Punks@❤️”

My dear guests, Ylva (@ylvafalk), Henrietta (@adventurietta) & Emma (emma_beyondgravity), Thank you so much for being part of the show.
You are the embodiment of "Punks@❤️”...

So now, dear listener, just pause, take a big breath and for the next 120mins or so, open your eyes, ears, mind & heart…

    Welcome to our world!

    Welcome to “Punks@ ❤️”!

    Finishing with these few words:

    I'm a rebel with a cause,

    A non-conformist at my core,

    I don't follow society's laws,

    I'm punk at heart, forevermore.

My spirit is wild and free,

And I won't be tamed or controlled,

    I express my creativity,

With music, art, and clothes that are bold.

    I reject the mainstream view,

    And embrace the underground scene,

I'm not afraid to be true,

To the person I want to be seen.

    I value individuality,

    And reject conformity,

I'm punk at heart, can't you see?

It's a way of life, for me.

So let's raise a fist in the air,

    And celebrate our punk soul,

    We're a community that dares,

To be different, to be whole.

Punk at heart, we'll never change,

    Our spirit will always remain,

    A symbol of rebellion, strange,

But also a source of pride and gain.

I am because you are because we are, Ubuntu!

    Big ups to: @rubywaks; @rogov_rogov; @maxkinsky; @timur_zhumatov_stidio; @viktorherak; @johnkoolrecords; @matthallracing; @patteef

    Episode 054 - Olivia Frances

What's the formula for being an award-winning songwriter? It requires a combination of talent, hard work, and persistence. It involves honing one's songwriting skills, developing a unique style and voice, and building a strong network within the music industry. That's exactly what today's podcast guest has done.  She has had two songs up for Grammy consideration and the Nashville Songwriter Association International has named her as a "One's to Watch," multiple times.  She's Olivia Frances and she's Someone You Should Know.

Monique Barry - Sing or Swim

Monique Barry - Sing or Swim
Monique Barry is a classically-trained singer, songwriter, composer, and music educator. Her music is unique, ethereal, dreamlike, and emotional, and ranges from techno pop to ambient folk. Monique's latest album—HAAK—is being released one single at a time - a slow drip of elegant melodies and intricate beats. The latest single—"Time"—is a spellbinding exploration of what Tennessee Williams called "the longest distance between two places".

Monique possesses a truly independent spirit, dedicating her passion and skills to every aspect of music-making: from nurturing an initial song idea and creating a demo, to arranging, producing, packaging and promoting a full album. In this conversation, she and Jane discuss the intricacies, joys, and challenges of life in the indie lane: gigs, bands, travel, funding, reviews, airplay, and the inevitable...TikTok. Plus, Monique talks about her most recent adventure - cold water swimming.

Betsy was singing before talking. She excelled through musical programs and graduated with two degrees. She can sing in eight languages. She shares fun stories of the amazing musicians she has worked with including the legendary Brooks Arthur, Cher, Blondie, Adam Sandler and many more.  We talk about a moving video and song called "Me Too" that I found very powerful and moving. Then Betsy shares her own personal story and how she has turned the trauma's into her strengths. I wanted to share Betsy because of her beautiful positivity and you'll hear what an encouraging person she can be. Enjoy listening to my personal vocal coach and friend Betsy Hammer.

Songs Sung from the Heart with Miss Virginia Rose

Miss Virginia Rose is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and song-writer coming from Vancouver, BC. Her stage performance is hypnotizing as her energy is infectious. She includes the complex art of looping the piano, beat-boxing, rhythm guitar, stunningly soulful lead vocals and fun harmonies.

Wait for the end of the episode to hear a full-length track from Virginia, Desire.

With songs sung from the heart of her stories experience, she wishes to open peoples minds to a world more full of love and empathy.

Virginia was on stage even before she was born, to a mother who was on bass and a father on lead-guitar. Self-taught on acoustic since 8 years old, 3 years of Royal Conservatory Piano and 5 years of SLS vocal training with Cecile LaRochelle. Influences from Stevie Wonder, Jason Mraz and Lauren Hill equals a bad-ass combo creating one strong female who’s music will continue to inspire through the passion she exudes.
