Get ready to journey from the dairy farms of Switzerland to the grape vineyards of California with our lovely guests, John and Diane Bucher. Discover their unique transition from dairy farming to growing grapes and crafting exquisite wines. As we get a taste of their 2022 Savignon Blanc, the Buchers reveal the secrets behind its crisp acidity and the blend of citrus and tropical fruit notes. Not only do they enlighten us about their family history and their 40-acre vineyard, but they also offer an insider's view of their sales, marketing, and relationships with other wineries.

Diane, with her profound experience in sales and marketing, paints a vivid picture of the winery's operations and the collaborative spirit of the winemaking community. Through her stories, we  discuss their custom crush facility and their tasting room, but also discover the warm hospitality of Sonoma County.

As we reach the finale of our conversation with the Buchers, we touch upon their labor of love - the meticulous vineyard practices that aim to produce the finest quality grapes. As we discuss the impact of weather on their harvest and their diverse range of Pinot Noirs, we also learn about the influence of microclimates on the taste of their wines. Don't miss the end where we rate their wines, providing you with a clear idea of what to expect from their remarkable offerings. Episode 58: Ryan Rech, Chief Winemaker, Beringer Vineyards

Episode 58: Ryan Rech, Chief Winemaker, Beringer Vineyards

What does Beringer White Zinfandel and Luke Taylor have in common? One of the only White Zins I tried back in the day when I visited Beringer and it wasn't too bad plus no need to brush the sugar off your teeth after consuming. This week on the Cork & Taylor Wine Podcast, we got Ryan Rech, the chief winemaker of Beringer Vineyards. This Napa winery is old like really old and haven't had their wines in forever...they were yummy! Ryan has a really cool story and the wannabe Hulk Hogan (I gave him that title) talks a little health, weightlifting and his life in general! I almost forget we talked about the famed Knights Valley which Beringer is known for. Always a ball on the Cork & Taylor Wine Podcast!

    Episode 15: A True Taste of 2020 Harvest (Sonoma/Napa)

We talked with 5 winemakers/vintners out of Napa and Sonoma to get a true taste of the 2020 Harvest.  Fires wrecked havoc on the vineyards and winemakers await patiently to see if their grapes are smoke tainted or not. In this episode, we get a first hand view from David Ramey, Tom Meadowcroft, Michael Keenan, Robert Foley and Tor Kenward.  This episode is one not to be missed.
