Building Confidence and Making Your Photography Business Stand Out Through the Power of Your Voice – Interview with Sally Prosser

Building Confidence and Making Your Photography Business Stand Out Through the Power of Your Voice – Interview with Sally Prosser

Today I speak to Sally Prosser: Confidence Coach, TikTok Sensation and Ex-TV and Radio News Journalist, about how to stand out using the power of your voice.

Sally is all about speaking from the heart, speaking with soul. And really helping other creatives and business owners to find their truth and be able to communicate that with their audience.

Sally is a heart-centered, soul driven, purpose-led entrepreneur. With a background in speech and drama, teaching radio and tv, news reporting, company spokesperson, and is now running a beautiful coaching business where voice is a big part of it.

In this episode Sally explains how, as photographers, we can use our voice to attract clients.

    In this episode we cover:

    • Belle welcomes Sally to the show.
    • Why Sally uses the F Bomb in the middle of her name as a confidence strategy.
    • It is so much easier to speak on behalf of a company or to be an objective third party.
    • Sally was a spokesperson for a big water and sewage company.
    • Sally’s shocking harassment encounter at a boxing match which ended up being on the news.
    • That’s when Sally realised it was easier speaking on behalf of the water sewerage company, than it was to talk on behalf of herself and her harassment experience on the news.
    • Belle says how this is similar to photographers, who are comfortable behind the camera and sharing these images on social media, but rarely show photos of themselves on social media.
    • It's scary to put yourself forward for judgment.
    • Some of Sally’s Tik Toks went viral for all the wrong reasons which used to upset her.
    • Sally now “lives in her disco ball”. She keeps shining and dancing and decides who comes to her party and who reflects right back.
    • We want to work with people we know, like and trust.
    • When looking for a photographer, Sally says, if she doesn’t know what a photographer looks like and sounds like, and she doesn't get a vibe from them, she’s not going to hire them.
    • Belle asks Sally how photographers can be confident on camera.
    • It takes practice. Sally recommends recording yourself and getting used to filming yourself.
    • Sally talks about clients she has helped get over their fear of being on camera and have now “won the internet”.
    • Showing up on camera is saying “I've got something to say, and I want my clients to get to know who I am, see my face, hear my voice, and learn why it is I do what I do.”
    • Sally talks about the power of the pause.
    • How Belle reclaimed her voice and power.
    • The evolution of yourself online.
    • How staying silent can be a disservice to your community.
    • Photographers can start talking on camera by honestly explaining one of your photos.
    • Make sure you breathe nice and deep.
    • Speaking with confidence is like a muscle,
