What better way to wrap up my first season of my podcast, https://www.cornerstoneofamericapodcast.com/podcast that with Chris Albanese!
I say this all the time, but we had an absolutely wonderful conversation.

    From his website:
Chris started his law enforcement career in 2000 as a state investigator with the New Jersey Attorney General’s office. Then, in 2004, he joined the ranks of the U.S. Secret Service as a special agent. And after spending four years in the Newark and New York City Field offices investigating financial crimes and conducting protective advances for some of the world’s most influential leaders, he transferred to Washington D.C.

During his nearly decade of service with the Secret Service, Chris protected two sitting U.S. Presidents and Vice Presidents (as well as three former U.S. Presidents and their spouses). He was also fortunate enough to travel the world and work alongside some of the very best men and women the United States of America has to offer. He is a graduate of Rutgers University and currently lives in Northern Virginia with his wife, who is a special agent with the Secret Service, and their two children.

He is also the co-host of the widely successful THE CREW REVIEWS podcast. For more information and links to episodes go to www.thecrewreviews.com

He is represented by Mike Hoogland of Dystel, Goderich & Bourret LLC and is currently working on getting his first book published.

    #30 - Jonathon Jakubowski - Bellwether Blues

Jonathan Jakubowski is the Director of SmartSolve, an award-winning startup business
focused on sustainable packaging. Jonathan received his undergraduate degree from
Bowling Green State University and Masters Degree in Public Policy from Georgetown
University. He is an avid social entrepreneur as the Founder of Champions in Action
and as the Chairman of the Forge Leadership Network Board of Directors. In 2017,
Jonathan was unanimously selected as Executive Committee Chairman of the Wood
County Republican Party and sits on the Wood County Board of Elections.
His new book is Bellwether Blue.  From Jon's website:

Faith, family, freedom. These three pillars are interdependent in the American
experiment. These timeless principles represent the reason for this book. With so
many wonderful sources of literature discussing these ideals, one must ask, why is this
    book worthy of my time?
Naturally, before spending countless hours writing, I had to ask myself the same
question. It was upon the recognition of my unique location, living in Wood County,
Ohio, a “Swing County”, that I knew that I had struck gold. Through a compilation of
seven stories of Millennials in Swing County America, who swung from Obama to
Trump, this work revives the importance of these timeless ideals of faith, family, and
    freedom in the electoral context.

My guest today is Bill Hannon.  Bill is an Engineer who found his true calling as a strength coach.  We had an insightful conversation about what it was like shifting careers from something as secure and financially stable as an engineer, to a Strength Coach.
Being a husband and a father, that decision would impact more than just Bill himself.
What it takes to make such a leap and everything he has learned a long the way.

    This one is special... 🙏
One of my oldest friends Brian Carey joined me for one hell of a trip down memory lane. We do what any 40 something year olds that used to run bars together do... Talk about the good ole days!!
In all seriousness, Brian and I have been through a lot in our years together in Santa Cruz. Always had each other's back. Always there to help. A true friend.

    Enjoy this one! I did.

To say that Scott Hambrick is many things is an understatement.
He started a data storage company that he ran for close to 20 years before recently selling it.
He's a Starting Strength coach and online coach for Barbell Logic
He also is Co-Host of the Barbell Logic podcast.

    https://barbell-logic.com/barbell-logic-podcast-episodes/

He is also the founder of
      https://onlinegreatbooks.com/team/

and the co-host of the podcast

    https://onlinegreatbooks.com/onlinegreatbooks-podcast/

Scott has been an avid reader and autodidact his entire life. After pursuing a science education at University he entered the world of small business and operates Data Storage, Inc., a successful enterprise in Tulsa, OK.

Scott and Charity, his wife of 20 years, homeschool their two daughters. After getting some serious skin in the educational game, Scott became more rigorous about his own continuing education. This interest lead to the creation of OGB. Scott hopes to introduce tens of thousands of people to the great books of the western world through this new platform.

A snippet of Scott's bio from his website:

A long time ago I realized I was fat.  I was out of breath and winded after tying my shoe laces. That very day I hired a personal trainer and commenced to lose the weight.  After 3 years and thousands of dollars, I lost 53 pounds.   I was 6’2″ tall and weighed 179.  After all that, I was skinny fat.  I lost 53 pounds of fat AND muscle.

Bosu ball work, muscle confusion BS and typical NASM, NSCA, ACE, ACSM personal trainer work didn’t make me strong.  I could do some planks, but I couldn’t bench press 165 pounds.  I had never even attempted a squat or a deadlift.  I wanted to be able to eat more food and I wanted to look better.  I knew the “trainer” route wasn’t going to get me there.  I had already given that experiment 3 years.

I launched an educational initiative for myself.  I set out to find out how people get strong.   I knew there were strong people.  How in the hell did they do it?  I found the answer.  They do it with barbells

After more research and trial and error I found that the Starting Strength Basic Barbell Training method absolutely worked for me.  After 6 weeks on starting strength I was stronger at age 38 than I had ever been in my life.  I was convinced.

My wife and I started training together and in an effort to do the best possible job of training in the safest possible way, I began studying the craft of barbell training, form, coaching, exercise physiology, mechanics, and more.  Soon, I was interning as a strength coach under Matt Reynolds at Reynolds Strong and later after he founded Barbell Logic Online Coaching, the best online coaching service in the world.

In December of 2016 I passed the platform coaching test at Wichita Fall Athletic Club and in January of 2017 I passed the written exam and became a Starting Strength Coach, an SSC.  I chose this because the Starting Strength method is the most complete, most efficient means to get a new athlete very strong, very fast, regardless of their age.  I relinquished that credential on July 31, 2019.

Charity and I love to apply our expertise in the training of young folks who are unhappy with their weight (both over and underweight!) and want to change their lives by getting crazy strong.   What we really love though is to help older folks get strong with the same methods.

    I believe that str

When you think about November Holidays, the one that comes to mind for most people is of course, Thanksgiving.  But there is another one that’s of equal, if not greater significance, and that’s veterans day.

Like many of you, I am thankful for all the men and women of our armed forces.  This podcast, as new as it is, has provided me with an amazing opportunity to speak with some of those special individuals.  So each week in November I will be featuring a guest that’s also a veteran.  And right now I’ve got a great month lined up for you.

Tom is the author of “GUARDIAN – Life in the Crosshairs of the CIA’s War on Terror” – a historical memoir chronicling his 24 years in the CIA in protective operations, counter-terrorism and security.

Tom led teams protecting CIA personnel and visiting VIP personnel to include the President, Vice President, as well as Senate and Congressional Delegations.

Tom received the Intelligence Star, the CIA’s second highest honor for valor and the Career Intelligence Medal for service reflecting exceptional achievements.

This was a fantastic conversation that covered his time in the CIA, experience as a nationally ranked collegiate wrestler and the traits you need to not only survive, but thrive in those environments.

#3 - The Unbreakable Scott Flansbaum

I'm honored to have Scott of @unbreakable_journey join me next week. If you don't know Scott's story, he's a married father of 4. A former Marine and Law Enforcement Officer. Last year Scott went in for a routine medical procedure and woke up paralyzed from the chest down. Doctors told him he'd never walk again. Scott's response? "Hold my beer doc, watch this!" (Ok, maybe he didn't say that exactly but you get the point!!). For the next year, with his faith, friends and family by his side, Scott defied the odds to not only walk again, but this past summer he completed a 10k along side @domraso Go listen to that podcast, Episode 1 to hear his full story.
Now some of you may ask, "Alex I thought this podcast was about business owners and entrepreneurs.". Well you're right. Small business owners / entrepreneurs seek out and overcome hardship when they go into business for them selves. And When you go in for a routine procedure and wake up paralyzed from the chest down, and have to start your life over, with a wife and 4 kids, that's some hardship!
Scott has also began a new business venture as a motivational speaker among other things, helping others who may be in similar situations to keep fighting.
People like Dom and Scott are truly the cornerstone of this amazing country.
Looking forward to bringing you his story and plans for the future.
