Episode 41: Fantastic Fest 2016 pt.1 (aka Fantastic Fest: We Are In You)

Episode 41: Fantastic Fest 2016 pt.1 (aka Fantastic Fest: We Are In You)
It's our special two 'hawks in one diner episode.

We've been going through some Fantastic Fear and Loathing, but unlike Hunter T, Matt and Trevor are actually covering the event.

We're live on tape from a Texas pillowfort, bringing you first half coverage from where our boots are on the ground (toes up much of the time) for week one of Fantastic Fest, the nation's largest genre film festival.

We took a few days off from our rum-drenched movie bacchanal to catch you up on goings on in Austin - join us as we talk Texas, Tacos, Shiner Bock, BBQ, Fantastic Fest, and a years' worth of movies in a week - including The Arrival, The Invisible Guest, Undisputed: Boyka, Morgan Spurlock's Rats, and our personal dark horse pick, regional chart topper from Ireland called The Young Offenders

(And we made eye contact the whole time)

Comedian Derek Gaines Stars in AOL/Morgan Spurlock's "Connected" and MTV's "Broke Ass Game Show".

Y'all are going to love comedian Derek Gaines. Right before my interview with Morgan Spurlock, I got to chat with Derek, one of the stars or Mr. Spurlock's newest project "Connected" - the awesome first-person filmed series for AOL.com for AOL Originals.

Derek and I discuss stand-up comedy, how he got picked by AOL, MTV and his future dreams. Little did we realize how parallel our journey's are. Check Derek out on MTV's "Broke Ass Game Show" as well as his many stand-up clips online.

My son Benz Brady has a new music video we made together for his song "Levitate".

Lastly, for #ThrowBackThursday, a clip of another stand-up comedian tapped to host an MTV game show from 1990's: (He's the pimp that time forgot.)

Enjoy. I look forward to your feedback on iTunes, or in comments on jordanbrady.com.

    Thank you,

    Jordan

Morgan Spurlock Explains Why He Uses His Superpowers For The Good Of Humankind.

Morgan Spurlock Explains Why He Uses His Superpowers For The Good Of Humankind.

My special guest is the great documentarian Morgan Spurlock, who agreed to be on the show after I stalked him in a parking lot. His films influence the way we eat ("Super-Size Me"), look at marketing ("The Greatest Movie Ever Sold") and helped me appreciate One Direction ("This Is Us"). His CNN show "Inside Man" is a favorite of mine, and I can honestly tell you I've seen every movie he's made.

We chat about his newest project "Connected", an awesome first-person filmed series for AOL.com. He gave 6 New Yorkers each a camcorder and let them loose. The result is a weaving of their lives that reflects how we are all dealing with common emotions.

Beyond his own projects, Mr. Spurlock explains how he decided to help other filmmakers tell their stories.

Please chime in on Facebook or email at RespectTheProcessPodcast@gmail.com. You can find me.

    Cheers,

"I Am Santa Claus" Documentary Director Tommy Avallone.

"I Am Santa Claus" Documentary Director Tommy Avallone.

Who's lap is your kid sitting on? "I Am Santa Claus" is a wonderful documentary that answers that very question. From an queenly bear Santa, to WWE Champion wrestler Mick Foley, Santa's come from varied backgrounds. My chat with Director/Producer Tommy Avallone is like two old friends gabbing about filmmaking, despite having just met online. We discuss research, how to choose who to follow, funding and everything in between.

Watch the film on Netflix or buy it from Tommy's site.

Adam McKay Uses Rainbow Alpacas & Lollipops To Learn Us The Inequality Gap.

Adam McKay Uses Rainbow Alpacas & Lollipops To Learn Us The Inequality Gap.

Truly one of the great comedy minds of our time, director Adam McKay has now used his powers for the betterment of mankind. He's created a magical land inhabited by multi-colored Alpacas who love lollipops and rainbows, to teach us about the growing divide in wealth distribution. It's called "The Unbelievably Sweet Alpacas". Just one of 20 short films for Morgan Spurlock's "We The Economy" project.

It's voiced by a winning trifecta of comedy talent: Sarah Silverman, Amy Poehler, and Maya Rudolph. NPR Host & economist Adam Davidson advised. Cinelan Managing Partner David Laks offers a pre-interview interview, explaining the program. Documentarian Miao Wang made a short docu about Chinese factories in South Carolina that must be seen. She's in the roundtable with Adam McKay. Damon Smith, Supervising Producer, Cinelan is the moderator.

Thanks to the SideShow Network, I joined Mr. McKay in a round table discussion at the press conference for "We The Economy". It's documentarian Morgan Spurlock's series of short films by notable filmmakers. Each director teamed with actual economists to craft eye-opening, and often funny shorts.

    Mansome (review)
In the age of hair gels, Axe body spray and Men’s Health magazine, it’s natural to ask, “What does it mean to look like a man?” Zach combs through the new documentary “Mansome” as it endeavors to answer that question. The latest movie from Morgan Spurlock, director of “Super Size Me” and “POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold,” Mansome also stars Jason Bateman & Will Arnett.
