Episode 33 - Michael Coffill, Leveraging EOR’s to Facilitate Growth

If you could allow someone else to take on the risk in parts of your business that you aren't as familiar with, you’d do it, wouldn’t you? For some reason, Canadians are seemingly slow to adopt the use of EOR’s in the staffing industry. But should they be?

    Key Moments:

    • What exactly does an EOR do and how do they help business owners

    • How the laws regarding EOR’s differ from the United States and Canada

    • How and EOR can help so you don’t have to fulfill the payroll while you are waiting to get paid

    • Why some Canadians seem hesitant to adopt the EOR model even though it is recognized in the US and Europe

    • How the new software that Michael and his team are working on help those in the staffing industry and when it is expected to launch

    • Why Michael has gotten away from checks and is only using direct deposit for payroll

    Favorite Quote:

“We take all the risk in hiring and give you all the profit.“

EP 32 - Bryan Doyon, Investing Big In Your Company

EP 32 - Bryan Doyon, Investing Big In Your Company

Episode 32 - Bryan Doyon, Investing Big In Your Company

Sometimes you need to go big and invest in yourself in the way that feels right to you and your business. Big moves when done methodically can lead to big gains, so you need to hang it out there and put your money where you mouth and invest.

Byran Doyon, founder of Professional Sourcing Solutions, has done just that by having a fellow Canadian company help him launch SourceMe, a new platform connecting those in the staffing world.

    Key Moments:

    • What the SourceMe Platform is and how it came to be out of necessity

    • How SourceMe helps connect clients and candidates to fill both of their needs

    • Why Bryan decided to use local companies to code the platform even though it raised the cost on the entire project

    • Why if you are collecting clients data you should be concerned about who is managing it and where they are located

    • The reasons Bryan is pleased they went with a local coding company and why he would do it the same way again

    • Why dealing with Canadians helps Bryan feel at ease especially on big deals

    Favorite Quote:
“In the end if I look at it, did my company really overspend? Probably not, because I had a lot more time to do what my company was doing, which is recruitment.“

Celebrating SIA 40 Under 40 Honoree Amanda Marciniak

Celebrating SIA 40 Under 40 Honoree Amanda Marciniak

In this special addition of Off The Cuff with SSi People I was delighted to welcome back Amanda Marciniak to celebrate her being honored as one of SIA’s (Staffing Industry Analysts’) 40 Under 40 Honorees. As the director of learning and development for SSi People, Amanda has a thoughtful and intentional way of teaching and coaching. A lifelong learner herself, she continually asks, “What can I give to others to help them grow and be successful?” Her contagious energy draws others in, and she is most passionate about watching those she has hired and trained move up in their own careers.

In her first year with SSi People, Amanda revamped the company’s training program and updated it to four weeks from six, enabling new employees to reach productivity 33% sooner. She also implemented a learning management system that provides employee access to development-focused material at any time, and she tripled the amount of content available. In addition, Amanda led the migration of a new applicant tracking system, increasing the company’s capabilities to view, report, analyze and utilize data more effectively.

Amanda’s goal is to leave a department or company better than she found it by building structure in a flexible way that enables us to grow and thrive well into the future. In fact, at a prior employer, she created and built a recruiter and sales training program and integrated its technology tools to build a comprehensive tech stack.

In this conversation we discuss the state of the staff industry while diving into the emerging trends in both technology and relationship building. Amanda shares her thoughts on how the industry is evolving and what it's going to take to stay ahead of the competition while still delivering the human component that is so essential to the work that we do at SSi People.
