LOKI MEETS TWILIGHT? Bryan and Kristen kick off a new theme series: BIG SWINGS. And, folks, Star Trek is committed to the big swing. This time out sees La'an teaming up with an alternate reality Captain Kirk to travel back in time to 21st century Earth for reasons. Does the episode reveal something new about La'an? Does it give us a new side of Kirk even if only through the lens of an alternate reality figure? Or is it all too safe and pat?

INTERVIEW: Tawny Newsome On Bringing Beckett Mariner to Life and What Her Future Holds in the STAR TREK Universe

Tawny Newsome is excited to be able to talk about Star Trek again now that the SAG-AFTRA strike seems to be over. I was able to monopolize a few minutes of her time to talk about her character, Beckett Mariner, in Star Trek: Lower Decks, as well as that crossover episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and being in the writers room of the upcoming series Star Trek: Starlet Academy. I’m T. Rick Jones and this is your Daily Star Trek News.

NUMBER ONE'S TRIAL kicks off our first theme month: The Trials of Season Two. In order to exonerate his embattled first officer, Captain Pike takes a personal day to travel across the galaxy to get a ringer/the best civil rights attorney in the galaxy. Roundtable Discussion of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2

Welcome to Light On Light Through, Episode 357, in which I join Captain Phil on WUSB-FM Radio (Stony Brook, New York) and Marybeth Ritkouski, Michael Rizzo, and Roy Bjellquist in a 2-hour in-depth, fun discussion of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Episodenbesprechung: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – "Under the Cloak of War” (S02E08)
#StarTrek #Podcast #StarTrekPodcast #StrangeNewWorlds

Episodenbesprechung: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – "Those Old Scientists” (S02E07)
In "Those Old Scientist" treffen Boimler und Mariner auf einige... nun ja, "reifere" Wissenschaftler:innen. #StarTrek #Podcast #StarTrekPodcast #StrangeNewWorlds #Crossover #StarTrekLower Decks

Episodenbesprechung: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – "Lost in Translation” (S02E06)
#StarTrek #Podcast #StarTrekPodcast #StrangeNewWorlds

INTERVIEW: Effects Wizard J. Alan Scott On Reimagining A Legacy 'Star Trek' Alien

INTERVIEW: Effects Wizard J. Alan Scott On Reimagining A Legacy 'Star Trek' Alien

The Gorn were created for an episode of Star Trek: The Original Series, with a stuntman portraying the lizard creature in an unwieldy costume. We saw one again in Star Trek: Enterprise, courtesy of some pretty bad CGI. Now they’re a recurring threat in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds where the combination of practical effects and CGI make them arguably the best-looking iteration of the species. I had a chance to talk to J. Alan Scott, co-founder of Legacy Effects, the company behind the new version of this old alien.

    Level One Diagnostic [Season Premiere]

BRYAN AND KRISTEN kick off the second season of Trek Marry Kill with a review of season one. What worked? What didn't work? What was the biggest complaint and how did we decide to address it? Season two will feature some minor tweaks to the format, including theme months, the animated shows, a new question to ask before TREK, MARRY, OR KILL? and a list of Wild Card episodes that Kristen drew from a Spock mug.

Stay tuned because we dropped two episodes this week: Counselor Troi is pregnant in The Next Generation's second season premiere, "The Child."

INTERVIEW: Director Jeff Byrd on Filming 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" Episode 208, "Under the Cloak of War"

INTERVIEW: Director Jeff Byrd on Filming 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" Episode 208, "Under the Cloak of War"

The latest episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, “Under the Cloak of War,” is a look at the emotional consequences of war. When Klingon Ambassador Dak’Rah, known as the Butcher of J’Gal, boards the ship claiming he’s on a mission of peace, it stirs up strong emotions from the crew, many of whom are suffering from PTSD from the Federation-Klingon War. It’s a dramatic episode with a message at its heart reminiscent of some of the best episodes of the original series. I had a chance to chat with its director, Jeff Byrd, about some of the more striking moments and themes.

If you want to learn more about the tumultuous relationship between the Federation and the Klingons, check out my essay, “Trektrospective: The Evolution of Federation-Klingon Relations in Star Trek at www.dailystartreknews.com. INTERVIEW: Director Jordan Canning on 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Episode 205, "Charades"

INTERVIEW: Director Jordan Canning on 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Episode 205, "Charades"

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 is halfway over, and while it is not universally hailed as the best modern Trek show, it certainly has a preponderance of fans proclaiming it as such. The latest episode takes Spock where he’s never gone before when an alien race “fixes” him by removing the genetic markers that make him half-Vulcan, thereby rendering him completely human. Such a light-hearted episode deserves an experienced comedy director. That director is Jordan Canning, and I had the opportunity to sit down with her for a brief chat.

If you like this interview, check out our YouTube channel where, in the latest edition, I talk to Benji Bakshi, one of three cinematographers responsible for bringing the locations of Strange New Worlds to life. Episodenbesprechung: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – "Among the Lotus Eaters” (S02E04)
#StarTrek #Podcast #StarTrekPodcast #StrangeNewWorlds
