EPISODE 37: Friendship Saves The Day (Guardians of the Galaxy)

"That's the opposite of having a gift, George."

    --Kevin

How could you possibly condense 40 years worth of comic book stories, told across multiple titles and timelines into one movie and have it maintain all the appeal of the original material?  Well, you cannot.  BUT...if you just want to make a kick-ass, really fun Sci-Fi Comic Book movie with some great characters and memorable moments then you hire James Gunn.  We talk about GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, which Kevin has never seen and George has seen about 50 times.  So, break out your Rocket Raccoon Happy Meal Toys and your Drax the Destroyer Slurpee Cups and buckle in for an HOUR of Busy Dads talking about a comic book movie.

Enjoy and thanks for putting up with us!

    Super Awesome Mix

    Super Awesome Mix
This episode expands the horizons here at THEMIXLAB. Here is a mixtape that was inspired by the movie Guardians Of The Galaxy and the soundtrack a.k.a. the Awesome Mix by Star Lord/Peter Quill. Not only would you find almost all the hits in the film but also a heavy dose of other realtive songs. These other songs are also great possible options for the sequel of the movie in my opinion. Along, with this mix you'll find smooth transitions, minor scratches, and remixes. I know it's not my signature Hip-Hop but its good tunes to enjoy. Doing something out of the norm is something I like to do at times to show that I am a music lover first. Classic Rock, Soul, Funk and Old School. Sit back, relax & God Bless!

    S04E02 Annie vs. Star-Lord

    S04E02 Annie vs. Star-Lord

In honor of Dan getting the biggest compliment of his life from last week's guest (who compared him to Chris Pratt...), he chose Star-Lord as his weekly warrior. James picked some weird little girl from some League of Legends crap because he's James. JK LoL is pretty solid. But the worst pick of all was Andy's choice for us to fight in the town where Gilmore Girls took place. Stars Hollow. I feel my testicles shriveling just typing it.

Warning: Dirk's Boss came to crash the party.

    Records after last episode:
    Dan 0-0, Andy 0-1, James 1-0

    Episode 45: Marvelling at Guardians

    Episode 45: Marvelling at Guardians

TW (Trigger Warning): this episode features some pretty stark discussion of depression, relating to the sad death of Robin Williams. There's also some fairly frank discussion - and we make our opinion pretty clear - on the continuing situaion in Ferguson, Missouri.

Episode 45...five less than fifty...wonder what we'll do in five episodes' time?

For now, we welcome Emily's boyfriend Pete (an awesome creator in his own right), to share laughs and opinions - first on the menu is the pretty damn epic Guardians of the Galaxy, which is apparently winning over the hearts, minds and wallets of pretty much everybody! We move on to more sombre news, remembering with immense fondness the genius of Robin Williams, celebrating his life and career by listing films we really need to see again. There's a bit of tangential discussion about how childhood favourites change and evolve - especially when adapted into massive blockbuster movies - a little of a Muppet rant, a little semi-political PSA, and then we head out!

If you enjoyed the episode, loved Pete as much as we loved having him on, or want to tell us to stop being controversial (we may not), you can Like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, subscribe to us and review on iTunes, or even email us, at disnerds@gmail.com - and, as always, enjoy!
