A Legacy of Learning: Expert Strategies and Support with Amanda Schenkenberger

In this episode of "Casa de Confidence," host Julie speaks with Amanda Schenkenberger a homeschooling expert who shares her personal and professional experiences. Amanda discusses the benefits of homeschooling, such as personalized education and the ability to cater to children's unique interests, like her son, who takes advanced science classes at age 11.

Amanda opened up about her unique journey as a homeschooled individual and now a homeschooling mom of four. Her father's dedication to her education, despite being deaf, is a testament to the power of focused learning and the deep bonds it can create. It's a story that will tug at your heartstrings and might challenge your ideas about education.

🏠 Why Homeschool?: We dove into the myriad reasons families might choose this path—from moral values to addressing bullying to supporting neurodiverse kids. Amanda's insights into the importance of family decision-making and understanding the legalities are invaluable for anyone considering this route.

🤝 The Power of Pods: Ever heard of "pods"? They're collaborative educational groups that can revolutionize the homeschooling experience. If you're worried about going it alone, this concept could be a game-changer.

💪 Overcoming Self-Doubt: Amanda tackled the self-doubt many parents feel head-on, reassuring us that resources are plentiful and that we're more capable than we think. Her personal story of her 11-year-old son thriving in a high school science class is just the motivation we need to trust in our children's—and our own—potential.

P.S. Don't miss Amanda's free masterclass, "Pressure-Free Homeschooling," for a strategy that makes homeschooling connected and enjoyable. It's just 20 minutes and could be the key to unlocking your family's educational bliss!

It's an issue with consent at its core — who has it, who doesn't — and what states are taking a stand for women and girls. Hosts Gina Brillon and Kimberly Brooks delve into the roadblocks to taking this issue seriously — and what we can do to clear them.

    Cannabis State Laws and Chimpanzees

    Cannabis State Laws and Chimpanzees

The first episode of the High on History podcast! The host, Autumn, introduces the concept of a combined history and cannabis podcast. First, come learn some basics, including the (mostly ) current state and lack of federal legalization laws in the USA.  Then, get high on the history focusing on chimpanzee discovery! We haven't always been so knowledgeable of our closest primate relatives, and the modern history of our relationship with Chimps has more depth than first meets the eye (or ear). Discussion also focuses on new research of chimpanzee behaviors and what theories current researchers have.  The more we learn of their biology and behavior, the more we can learn of our own species and evolutionary history.

Decriminalizing prostitution and the fight against sex trafficking
This week, Maine’s governor vetoed a bill partially decriminalizing prostitution in the state. Advocates said it would have been a big win in the fight against sex trafficking, but critics said it could entice more people into the underground trade. POLITICO’s Liz Crampton reports. Plus, the CBO says the federal budget gap will widen to $3 trillion this year. And D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine has subpoenaed Facebook for records related to the platform’s handling of coronavirus misinformation. Liz Crampton covers state policy for POLITICO. Defending the wild: Trophy hunting threatens majestic species

Defending the wild: Trophy hunting threatens majestic species

Wisconsin’s recent wolf hunt was, from start to finish, an example of the worst wildlife management practices. These gorgeous animals today occupy only 15 percent of their historic range in this country: they are far from recovered, and in no state to withstand more carnage, in Wisconsin or anywhere else they call home.

Love and compassion for animals can bring everyone together. ‘Humane Voices’ is the official podcast of the Humane Society of the United States. We’ll explore the issues facing animals, interview worldwide animal experts, and discuss what you can do to get involved and help. If you care about the welfare of animals, or have a special pet or two in your life, this is the podcast for you.

    Bullshit Laws in the U.S.

We thought our bedroom closets were full of bullshit we didn't need, but it turns out that our junk is nothing compared to what lurks in the crusty ole law books across the United States. Today we explore archaic AF state laws that still exist and they range from laughable and outdated to offensive and discriminatory, which goes to show it's time to Marie Kondo our law closet!  We also have a badass fave wave this week fighting to make women's voices more powerful when it comes to legislating women's issues! #ladywave
