Episode 85: Frank Dux gets his ass beat in Cassadaga

Episode 85: Frank Dux gets his ass beat in Cassadaga

We don't like to brag or anything, but the people behind Madness Madness have accomplished some pretty incredible feats of combat prowess, to the point where several hit movies have been based on our exploits: Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water, Titanic, Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, Avengers: Infinity War, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Jurassic World, The Lion King, The Avengers, Furious 7, Top Gun: Maverick, Frozen II, and of course Barbie. That’s more than $27 billion at the box office just from the ones we can name off the tops of our heads, so honestly we’ve got nothing to learn from Frank Dux, a fight choreographer and semi-professional liar whose “life story,” the 1988 Jean-Claude Van Damme breakout “Bloodsport,” pulled in a mere puff of dust to the tune of $11.8 million worldwide, which I don’t even think is enough money to wipe your ass with these days.

Nonetheless we’ll hear about this valor-stealing boomer schmuck, then imagine him dropped into Cassadaga, Florida (formerly New York), the fortune-telling capital of the world, mouthing off to a series of increasingly irritable palm readers until the ghost of Patrick Swayze manifests and Road House roundhouses him so hard he lands in a different ZIP code from his medals of honor, which turn out to be made of cardboard and cellophane anyway. Join us, won’t you?

    Free Speech vs Stolen Valor

    Free Speech vs Stolen Valor
Look, I said this the other day on Bill Mick’s Show, I am a free speech advocate. In point of fact, I am a free speech radical. I personally do not believe that there should be ANY limits on speech. The absolute answer to bad speech is more good speech. A bad argument should be countered by a good argument, not censorship. But… and you know what that means… there is some speech that is so offensive, so outrageous, so abusive that it outrages certain members of the society. The calls quickly come for silencing of that speech, and they become loud and because of the nature of the speech, they are generally unopposed. And when those calls come, the slippery slope gets steeper. Should we censor some speech simply because it crosses a sanctified cultural ideal and we don’t like it? Especially when that speech is so outrageous, so offensive, so… wrong… that it simply must be punished?

Eric Herrera and Jenn DeBeers: Stolen Valor

Eric Herrera and Jenn DeBeers: Stolen Valor

Episode forty-nine of Strong Enough Podcast brings two previous guests, Veteran Eric Herrera and Jenn DeBeers. Jenn and I will share stories about people pretending to have served in the Military, and Eric will provide insight and information about this growing trend: Stolen Valor.

During this episode, Eric provides practical questions to ask and what to look out for if you suspect Stolen Valor. He shows military uniforms and tells us how they should look and what you may see if someone hasn't actually served. The three of us discuss the similarities in the stories that Jenn and I share from two different people, and we talk about what might lead someone to lie about or embellish their military service. This is a can't miss episode about people who may be untruthful about prior military service and how you can determine whether someone's story is real or not.
