Our daughter and son in law own a full time multi op DJ company.
Any time there’s a staffing issue (as a lot of people are dealing with in the climate we’re in right now), my daughter, Lauryn, and I take the gig.
They’re both amazing DJs, plus they know the flow of a wedding and reception from top to bottom, and are amazing networkers, so it’s really fun for me to go out with them every once in a while.
After selling our full service venues and retiring from events, and because I now do consulting and coaching for other wedding pros full time online, I love the excuse to get out to weddings every once in a while, and of course never miss an opportunity to hang out with my girl.
We love arriving just early enough to have plenty of time to set up and have background music on while the finishing touches are put on.
For this one, everything was done at the venue the night before, in a lovely organically boho chic vibe, and we were sweetly greeted by the awesome coordinator.
If you’ve been around me more than 5ish minutes, you know I love meeting other wedding pros, and always teach vendors who are involved in the day-of festivites at all, to take advantage of the built in networking opportunity.
In episode 31, I talked all about tagging other vendors on social media, we always do this after every wedding, and it’s one of the reasons we’re sold out every weekend and our calendar is full several years out.
The gorgeous cake arrived, and the delivery came and went quick before we had a chance to find out who brought it, we’ll have to do a little research for that one.
Then the caterers arrived, and the photographer came with the bride and groom of course.
By the end of the reception, we had a cute, effective post for Facebook and Instagram, which also means Pinterest… and I’m talking about it here too so it’s pretty meta, also a podcast episode!
The bride, groom, wedding party, guests, and even us vendors all had an amazing time. There was even a kids dance battle that had the guests highly entertained, of course!
I’d love to hear all about your most recent experience, email me!
Hot tip: Always always always go out of your way to introduce yourself to the other vendors, even if you’re someone like the bakery and are just there for a quick delivery, the referrals that come from it are endless, through social media tags and also direct referrals from the vendors and even preferred vendor lists.
And make sure to reciprocate and reshare those tags!
