In Loving Memory of Scott Boaman: Navigating A Life Interruption

What does it look like to obey God’s call to leap when everything in your world is interrupted by the cares of this world?

Our guest today will share how he drew closer to God during one of the most challenging seasons of his life and how his leap led him right where he needed to be.

On Saturday April, 29, 2023 Scott passed away from medical complications during his treatment. It is with his wife's permission that I share this podcast episode with you. Scott's legacy of having hope amid despair has left a beautiful imprint on my heart. He was known for his precious words ,"God's got this" and "God is in control." And his family declares that God still is.

Let's flood his Instagram page with words of encouragement for the family and please share how through this episode you learned the power of trusting God as you may be Navigating Life Interruptions.

    Scott’s Bio:

Scott Boaman is an author, motivational speaker, life coach, seasoned business owner, and life-enhancer. He is involved with numerous ministry organizations and, along with his wife, Darlene, is also a pre-marriage facilitator at the church they attend, The Belonging Co.

Over the past twenty-five years, Scott has been involved with various ministry and charity organizations with a desire to serve and bless others while working to create a stable and secure future for his family. All seemed to be going well until he received an unexpected medical diagnosis of Stage 4 lung cancer. Within a matter of days, his future changed drastically, from one of normality to hopelessness and despair. While navigating this mind-altering news, God placed it heavily on his heart to use this life interruption as a vehicle to bless others experiencing various challenges and difficulties.

Through the struggle of navigating this difficult season in his life, Boaman has developed a oneness with God as he had never experienced before. God revealed methods and principles for him to have joy, peace, and comfort during this upheaval of life. Today, he uses his personal experiences to bring hope to the hopeless by moving towards oneness with God. He and his wife live in the Nashville area and have over thirty-seven years of living life together.

Our guest today will share how his choice to leap despite his limitations landed him on national television.

    Ben’s Bio:

Ben Waites is a husband and singer who was born with arthrogryposis, and while his body may be bound to a wheelchair, his spirit is soaring through the gift of song. In December of 2010, Ben graduated from Louisiana College with an interdisciplinary concentration of music, communications, and theater arts. Singing has become such a crucial part of Ben’s life and career, but music is not his whole life. Growing up, he had a happy, fulfilling life and supportive family. He says he did everything the other kids did, just with a little help sometimes. Ben chose to sing, but he knows that he will be fine with or without his gifted voice.

    • Working together as a couple is fun, but it also has its peaks and valleys.
    • Supporting your spouse is not a yes or no answer; it’s about looking at how you can make it happen. It’s about Sacrifice.
    • Being on the same page is great, but remember you can be on the same page but in different sections. Work on being in total agreement with one another.
    • The most important thing for couples doing life together is intentional communication; if you’re not intentionally communicating, it will get rough and harder than it has to be.

Jenn is a mom of five kids and the host of This Mom Knows Podcast. Inspired by her love for home organization, she helps moms lean into what God has called them to do by creating a home that runs smoothly to support their mom-plus lifestyle. In this episode, she shares how understanding her positional and missional responsibilities allowed her to follow her calling and still show up as a mom without feeling guilty. She also shares how she balances her business, podcast, and family to keep their home running, and to have the physical and mental space to work on her passion projects.
