The "Comeback" to the UFC, with special guest Dequan Townsend

Tune into another riveting episode with Coach Nate and Coach Shamber as they interview the Lansing native UFC Dequan “The Tarantula” Townsend. This fighter went through a BATTLE to get where he is today. From the loss of his only son to the shooting of his two brothers, he had to practice perseverance and laser focus.   Despite the trials he endured, he still pressed on to fulfill the promise he made to his son to make it in with the big dogs and didn’t stop until he was triumphant. Even when trying seemed impossible and all odds were against him, Daquan made a lasting impact on his community and continues to inspire us to chase our dreams and never stop fighting the good fight, no matter how many punches are thrown at you.

Stoned Alchemy - Episode 23 - The Intruder

Stoned Alchemy - Episode 23 - The Intruder

Join Mike & Russ on a balmy December day for a rooftop discussion loosely centered around the independent film "Intruder" - a film that no one has seen, not even the filmmakers!

This fun and lighthearted chat opens with Mike's enigmatic tale "Boris Spiderman", featuring Boris the spider and his grand Hollywood adventures.

About halfway through the chat is Russ' endearing tale "Frankie Paulie" about two tough guys doing bad deeds - or are they?

Please note that wind conditions and the aural soundscape of NYC occasionally dominate the audio - in other words,  things get a little frickin' noisy but the conversation is quite lively with tons of laughs. Enjoy!

Banned Sri Lankan Poecilotheria - Simply Spiders Responds

Banned Sri Lankan Poecilotheria - Simply Spiders Responds

Today I am spilling the tea! There has been a lot of drama this past week in the tarantula hobby. Lines have been drawn in the sand, people are taking sides, mob mentality and cancel culture is taking over, and ALL of this could be avoided with a simple conversation. For those that don't know whats happened, a US Tarantula Dealer briefly listed some species of Poecilotheria that are protected by the ESA (Endangered Species Act) for sale on his website with the caveat that they are "hobby form" or "hybrids" thinking it may be a loop hole to avoid federal regulation that prohibits them to be sold across state lines. I won't mince words, that was reckless, stupid and illegal. There have been some very brutal posts on social media and a podcast that, in my opinion, crossed the line between holding someone accountable and character assassination.  Personally I wanted the entire story, I wanted to hear both sides and get to the truth of the issue and I figured if I wanted to hear that, you all may want to hear about that as well! So today I am talking to Dustin from Simply Spiders on why in the world he would have done something so irresponsible, what he is going to do to rectify it, and how he will conduct himself moving forward.

Backpacking, Spider Stories, and Saying Yes to Everything

Featured in this episode is Amy Lyons, a law student in Washington, D.C. who's had quite thrilling adventures in her lifetime. She has climbed the Patagonia mountains in South America and Mount Kinabalu in Malaysia, and many others. Our conversation revolves around her various backpacking experiences and bugs (I know right, I'm terrified). Also, Amy says 'yes' to almost everything, which is how she creates such memorable experiences. We end by reflecting on the value of the words 'yes' and 'no' in our lives.
