Richard Harris - Meditation, & Embrace Therapy

Richard Harris - Meditation, & Embrace Therapy

As you've seen, Season 3 is dedicated to my father, Mike Jacox, whom passed away late in 2021.  I Love and miss you, Dad.

Thank you, Scott Leese, for introducing Richard Harris as our next guest today!  Richard is the founder of The Harris Group, Owning your Job Search, and the co-founder of #Surf and Sales.  Additionally, Richard is a board member for Uncrushed.org, which supports grief, depression, addiction, burnout, anxiety, and PTSD.

Today, though, we will learn about Richard, the dad.  We will know how we grew up and how we were raised.    His parents divorced when he was young, and Richard shares how his dad's perfectionistic style caused challenges for him.  Additionally, he shares how his father's passing impacted him and helped him find the power of therapy.

In sales, #mental #health is so vital given the ups and downs of the profession.  Richard talks about how meditation has dramatically helped him be a better father and leader.  Lastly, we went into depth on how we can work on areas where "we don't like certain things about ourselves."  To learn more about Richard, you can connect with him on LinkedIn.

    Anger Management (Anger Part 3)

    Anger Management (Anger Part 3)
With the third installment of our series on "Anger," we discuss how to effectively manage your anger. From mild frustration to complete meltdowns, anger is normal and consequences will follow. Managing your emotions means you can take actions before you lose control to increase your stamina. We also talk through techniques for regaining composure. It should be no big surprise that these are age-old practices (maybe as old as anger itself). Odds are, some caveman was suggesting to his fellow caveman that a time-out might be a good idea.

There Will Be Consequences (Anger Part 2)

There Will Be Consequences (Anger Part 2)
In the first part of this series, we talked through triggers and the coded messages behind angry outbursts. We also explained that anger, as an emotion, is normal. What is also normal is the consequence to losing your temper. Uncontrolled, angry outbursts and behaviors have a laundry list of consequences. We probably know how anger can negatively impact relationships, but anger strengthens anxiety which, in turn, strengthens anger (and on and on). Our immune system will be weaker. Our lungs will suffer. In short, angry people can expect to die sooner. There's something else to be angry about. Oh yeah... and Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating.

Temper Your Temper (Anger Part 1)

Temper Your Temper (Anger Part 1)
Why do we get so angry all the time? Well, because anger is one of the oldest (and most complex) emotions. Anger is also a shield or a mask that hides our true feelings. We'll go to great ends to cover up fear or past trauma. We'll make a big show of our anger or we'll ice someone in a passive aggressive response. The good news is that anger is normal. Since we all feel it, we shouldn't shame ourselves for it. The key is understanding our triggers and measuring our response. Because this topic is complex, we've broken this conversation into three parts, but I need a time out before I can tell you about the next part and you should take that time to think about what you've done because you've really upset me and that's why I threw that glass and I won't lower my voice because I don't want to talk you. Whew...

    Psalm 139:13-16 KJV

13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Married at First Sight, Season 12, Week 9

Married at First Sight, Season 12, Week 9

Week nine has some familiar feels as Chris still sucks big time and Vinny’s zero-to-one-hundred temper rears its head, again. Sarah notes that Virginia’s lost a bit of her easy-breezy sparkle, but affirms they’re kindred spirits when it comes to mimosas. Mary discovers her love for Clara, but acknowledges it probably has more to do with donuts and gas station palates than anything else. Sarah and Mary are done making excuses for Paige’s inability to walk away from one of the BIGGEST d-bags on planet earth, and also offer an important PSA about nail shape. Buckle up — and you’re welcome.

Little Kids: Isolation's Almost Over And We’re Dreading It

Little Kids: Isolation's Almost Over And We’re Dreading It

On this episode of This Glorious Mess Little Kids, Leigh chats about being a “one and done” kind of gal… but people are still asking her if she’s going to have another baby. Is it ever okay to ask that?

And, Tegan’s so used to isolation now that she’s not coping with the thought of going back into the big wide world.

Plus, her WTF moment is that she still can’t get over her toddler’s “nonsense” temper tantrum. This week Indi threw a fit because she couldn’t wear her jeans OVER her PJs. We feel you, Teigs!

Ephesians - 04j - Get Rid of It!

Ephesians - 04j - Get Rid of It!

Ephesians 4:30,31 - Paul encourages us to not grieve the Holy Spirit.  Grieving the Holy Spirit is not about us hurting God, it is about a God who hurts for us. The best check of our heart is to look at our speech.  Our speech is a reflection of what is happening within our hearts.  We must be honest with ourselves in order to change our speech from the inside out.
