S2E80 Nathaniel Manderson - Texas Law and Evangelicals

S2E80 Nathaniel Manderson - Texas Law and Evangelicals

Ken welcomes author, activist and pastor Nathaniel Manderson. After reading Nate's article on Salon.com ("Evangelical Theology Is What Made the Texas Abortion Outrage Possible"), Ken reached out to learn more. Nate agreed to a podcast interview. We learn that Nate, an ordained Baptist minister, is, like Ken, a seminary graduate (M. Div., Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston). They compare academic notes. Nate finished his undergraduate degree from UMass Dartmouth where he (the only male in the class) made a presentation on the Promise Keepers in his class on Women's studies. The two discuss the rise of Donald Trump as standard-bearer for evangelicalism, the effort to undo Roe v. Wade, LGBTQ inclusion and the current divide over race in America. Ken asks Nate to respond to "The Five Things You Cannot Say in Church." You'll find links to more of Nate's work in the expanded Show Notes.

What Would It Mean to Codify Roe v. Wade?

What Would It Mean to Codify Roe v. Wade?

Linda McClain, a BU School of Law professor of law, discusses what it would mean to codify Roe v. Wade, after Texas enacted one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the country. McClain also talks about previous attempts to codify Roe v. Wade, the Women’s Health Protection Act, and the future of abortion access in this country.

Note: A few days after this podcast was recorded, the US House of Representatives passed the Women's Health Protection Act. The act now goes to the Senate, where it is considered to be unlikely to pass.

To learn more about what the Texas Abortion Law means for the Future of Roe v. Wade, check out BU Today’s recent interview with Nicole Huberfeld, a BU School of Public Health and School of Law professor.

The Half Hour with YuYu Yuan and Spencer Travis: Episode 3 - Texas Abortion Law

The Half Hour with YuYu Yuan and Spencer Travis: Episode 3 - Texas Abortion Law

The Half Hour is a current events podcast designed with the intention of helping Extemp competitors (and other Speech and Debate members, as well as listening for the general public) understand the importance of political, social, or economical events on a domestic and international scale. Each episode looks at both sides of current events while providing background information to help expand upon the issue. The Half Hour also looks into common questions that people may be asked relating to current events and will work to answer them based on credible news sources from both sides

    Texas Abortion Law
The passing of the new abortion law in Texas has made it harder for women to obtain an abortion. Legalizing abortions for private citizens proves to be a challenge to Roe v. Wade (1973). In this episode, YuYu Yuan and Spencer Travis explain the law and explore its impacts.

Episode 54 - My Creative Juices Are Flowing....Oops!

The abortion debate should be one of the most interesting discussions we can have - it involves important aspects of individual freedom, the definition of life, morality, and gender issues but also has real practical consequences.  But the debate always disappoints as it devolves into bipartisan bickering and dogmatic statements.  In this podcast, I discuss two of my more pathetic attempts to engage in a debate on this topic.  Also, I manage to beat my previous record with 3 Kardashian references in one episode.  #ParkerBanshee

    The One Where We YOLO

    The One Where We YOLO

In this episode of The Morning Rage, Jenn and Lauren look at contentment through the lens of short term versus long term thinking. They also discuss the new Texas abortion law and debate the relevance of John and Stasi Eldridge's newly RE-released books  "Wild At Heart" and "Captivating."

Dan and Corey start by naming the 13 Service Members killed at the Kabul airport at the hands of ISIS during the evacuation. This episode is dedicated to them and the countless others killed in service to America in Afghanistan since 2001.

PLEASE stop using these 13 deaths to virtue signal a culture war narrative about "BIDEN BAD"!! (We already know Biden is bad...) And please stop using them to perpetuate a neocon, forever war narrative. Unless you can tell us ways in which it is not gross to do so. We're all ears @libservativepod and at libservativepod@gmail.com.

Donald Trump wants us to go back to Afghanistan to recover our toys. Oops...left the Tonka Trucks in the wrong sandbox!

In this week's "Red Pill - Blue Pill" segment...the topic is..."My Body My Choice." Vaccine mandates vs Abortion rights as Texas get's the go ahead to implement a very controversial abortion law while vaccine mandates are still a hot-button topic.

Hurricane Ida. Corey and Dan predict how the narrative will go moving into next week for the polarized, radical idealogues on the left and right!

Happy Juneteenth? Critical Race Theory, Kevin Hart Cancel Culture, Trans In Hollywood

Welcome, welcome, welcome as Justin would say! In today’s episode, we drag the great state of Texas in “Off My Chest.” We talk about Kevin Hart vs cancel culture and the “haters." We discuss Critical Race Theory and why people get it so wrong. Is Juneteenth being a national holiday the change we were asking for? There are interesting allegations being thrown towards Drake; is texting a teenager when you’re in your 30’s suspect? Finally, our main topic is Juneteenth! To celebrate, Justin and I discussed things Black people need to leave OUT of our community.
