Taylor reviews the superhero film, The Marvels. It was produced by Marvel Studios and directed by Nia DaCosta and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the sequel to the film Captain Marvel (2019), a continuation of the television miniseries Ms. Marvel (2022), and the 33rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In the film, Danvers, Rambeau, and Khan team up as "the Marvels" after they begin swapping places with each other every time they use their powers. It stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Zawe Ashton, Gary Lewis, Park Seo-joon, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, and Samuel L. Jackson.

MARVEL, AGENTS OF SHIELD, HAWKEYE und SECRET INVASION.

    "The Marvels"

    "The Marvels"
This week, Derek, Amir, and Jeff review Nia DaCosta's The Marvels, the 33rd entry in a flagging Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the three leads of Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani, it's certainly aiming higher, further, and faster. But is it another Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Or is it another Quantumania? We discuss.

Episode 324: 'The Marvels' Brings Back Memory(s)

It’s the 33rd MCU movie and things have gotten complicated. But is all that complexity propping The Marvels up, or weighing it down? Our trio, who are surprisingly well-versed in Marveldom for a bunch of indie nerds, weighs in. Then, a Hotline letter about characters whose deaths still sting.

    The Marvels

    The Marvels

Special guest Alisha Grauso joins the show this week for a review of The Marvels, the 33rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Marvels has been bombing at the box office so far, so we kick off the show by diagnosing some of the problems plaguing the MCU and what they might be cooking up next to right the ship before diving into the review.

Nia DaCosta directed and co-wrote The Marvels alongside Megan McDonnell and Elissa Karasik. The film stars Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel. The cast also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton, Gary Lewis, Park Seo-joon, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, and Saagar Shaikh. The Marvels opened in theaters on November 10 through Disney and Marvel Studios. It has a 105-minute runtime.

Our intro music this week is “Humble Beginnings (feat. Look)” by l’eupe.

    Unbreakable & Barbenheimer

    Unbreakable & Barbenheimer

In this week’s episode of the AIPT Movies podcast, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss M. Night Shyamalan’s tale of real-life superheroes and comic book mythos, Unbreakable!

Perfectly balanced horror, tension, and comedy! A wonderful cast that includes Robin Wright, a magnetic Samuel L. Jackson, and Bruce Willis in one of his greatest roles! A fantastic (and occasionally pretty funky) score from James Newton Howard! Graceful camera work and effective use of color that helps define the characters and story! One of Shyamalan’s best movies and one of his best twist endings! All that and more in this movie that helped pave the way for the modern superhero genre, and is secretly about how you can never be happy if you’re not true to yourself!

In addition, Tim and Alex share their spoiler-free thoughts on Barbie, Oppenheimer, They Cloned Tyrone, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem!

You can find AIPT Movies on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. As always, if you enjoy the podcast, be sure to leave us a positive rating, subscribe to the show, and tell your friends!

The AIPT Movies podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more! Hosted by supposed “industry vets,” Alex Harris, Tim Gardiner, and Matt Paul, the show gives you a peek behind the scenes from three filmmakers with oddly nonexistent filmographies. Post Credits: So The Marvels looks....interesting

Post Credits: So The Marvels looks....interesting

We're back yet again on another episode of "Post Credits", this time to discuss the trailer bonanza that we've been enjoying lately!

    - Peacock has announced the first of what is expected to be MANY John Wick franchise spin-offs, debuting the trailer for "The Continental", a series based on the Hotel of the same name from the John Wick movies.
    - HBO Max gave us a Behind-the-Scenes look at Matt Reeves' The Batman spin-off "The Penguin" featuring a returning Colin Farrell.
    - Universal debuted a trailer for their upcoming monster flick, "The Last Voyage of Demeter" featuring Dracula from popular horror folklore.
    - Marvel dropped their first official trailer for "The Marvels" starring Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris.

And finally, as always, we discuss Disney & Lucasfilms' "The Mandalorian" Ep.7.  If you've not yet caught up, be warned, there are a plethora of SPOILERS, but be sure to go back and check out past episodes of "Post Credits" where we break down each episode one at a time for the latest season in Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni's Star Wars Universe hit show.

    Good Vibes and Love,

    Poi N Soy

    Episode 41 Candyman (2021)

    Episode 41 Candyman (2021)

What happens when you say "Candyman" 5 times in the mirror? You might start wondering why the original Candyman haunted young black children in his own neighbourhood. Was that the central problem that writers Jordan Peele, Via DaCosta and Win Rosenfeld were trying to solve when reinventing the 1992 cult classic? Is Candyman a werewolf story, except a bee?  Candyman is a black revenge story  against white supremacist police brutality,  gentrification and cultural displacement, and possibly a superhero origin film.
