How to Begin and Uplevel as a Therapist

How to Begin and Uplevel as a Therapist

Every massage therapist has wondered at some point WHY their client disappeared never to return. Everyone who has ever had high hopes for getting a decent massage has sadly been disappointed (or dare I say it - HURT) at least once. Then there are some therapists who find their business becoming so successful they cant cope with the rapid influx of clients. And others who have got unbelievably long standing relationships with their clients for one reason alone.

In this weeks episode we are talking WELLNESS in a deep sense of the word. For many years it has been my passion to raise the standards of massage. I have been injured too many times (broken ligaments and ribs as an example) by well meaning but poorly trained practitioners.  It was clear they had  gone down the cheap and fast route to being qualified (and nearly got themselves sued as a result).

As a teacher with over 3 decades of experience what I can do is help create a new narrative and prevent harm in our industry.
I believe wellness starts with the therapist being well (not straining or burning out) and the client having a tailored treatment that makes them snore and dribble. Why right  now is THE time to become a massage therapist - adding  to your skills so you can seamlessly grow a client base of super fans

My personal journey  - from abuse and drug taking - to being the founder of London Institute of Thai Yoga Massage and a published author

I also talk candidly about abuse and trauma and the charity work I have done over the years to support clients in hospitals in tragic circumstances

I am sure if you are in the wellness industry you have your own journey connecting you to your WHY and my hope is that this episode will inspire you to go deeper - this world needs more healers and therapists right now

Finally, I teach you a little about the 5 Buddhist elements covering some basics about what might be your element type - water, fire or wind and HOW Thai Massage therapists can tailor treatments to suit you so you never have to experience the pain of wasting your money on a treatment again

Episode 28 - The Magic of Thai Acupressure for Health with Noam Tyroler

Episode 28 - The Magic of Thai Acupressure for Health with Noam Tyroler

Join the author of Thai Acupressure, Noam Tyroler, for a discussion about the Magic of Thai Acupressure for Health. Noam is located in Israel and I was fortunate enough to have this discussion with him through zoom. I had been searching for several years for a comprehensive book detailing the acupressure and energy line work of traditional Thai Massage. I was thrilled to find this book 10 years ago and find it is invaluable for those that practice this ancient art. Join us for a discussion about the history of Thai Massage and why is practical, useful and beneficial in our modern era.

    Read Noam's bio here:
In 1989, I took my first Thai massage course in the school of the Old Medicine Hospital in Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. After several years of training, including five additional courses in Thailand, I became a Thai massage practitioner in 1992.

Three years later, I opened the Thai massage department at the Reidman International College. This is the largest college for holistic medicine in Israel and with 8,000 students, it’s probably one of the largest in the world.

Since 1998, I also teach Thai acupressure and have trained hundreds of students in this Thai art. For many years, I have been searching for a book on the lines and points formulas of medical Thai massage. I could not find such a book, and finally decided to write one on my own.

I worked full time for two wonderful years writing this book. Writing a course textbook based on an ancient oral teaching is an exciting challenge.

I have established the School in 2008 in order to publish the book and future study materials. It’s translated already to Spanish, French, German, Turkish, Russian, Mandarin and Japanese. I plan to translate it also to Hebrew and Arabic.

I have also created a comprehensive 100 hours video guide and published a second book – Yoga Massage for Pregnancy, Labor and Postpartum. I plan to also release (hopefully in 2020) a Video Guide to Prenatal Yoga Massage.

Additional complementary study materials are needed and will hopefully be created in the few next coming years. I hope to make the Medical Massage of Thailand accessible to practitioners of Thai Massage and of any method of manual therapy. I am based in Metula, a small town in Northern end of Israel on our border with Lebanon.

Below are some links that you can access some of Noam's work.
