The Changeling House in Denver, Colorado

The Changeling House in Denver, Colorado

In 1980, George C Scott (Patton) stared in a horror movie about a haunted house called The Changeling.  Even though the film was set in Seattle, it was based on a story written by Russel Hunter who claimed to have paranormal experiences in his home near Cheesman Park in Denver, CO in 1969. We talk with Katie Rudolph at the Denver Public Library about her research into Hunter's story and compare it with the movie while trying to see if there is any truth to his strange and freighting story.

Post Credits: If Disney+ ruins Loki Season 2....WE RIOT!

Loki Season 2 is on the horizon and we cannot be more suspiciously optimistic about it.  While there have been a plethora of let downs (including "Secret Invasion"), we are hopeful that the return of Jonathan Majors' "Kang" and the introduction of even more Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson buddy cop hi-jinx will make for a fantastic follow-up season to the fantastic original show.

While all of our optimism is showing on the MCU side, we are not as optimistic for the DCU which has so much up in the air, including the re-booting of Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman?? We're not sure how to feel about the latest rumors regarding her iteration of the character and what this could mean for the future of the DCU under James Gunn, as well as rumors that David Ayers "Suicide Squad" cut will be released in the future.  So much to wonder about when it comes to the DCU and the best we can give it is a "Meh" collectively.

In other news, we break down what has been one of the most underrated streaming services in AppleTv+ , and their latest upcoming release starring Lakeith Stanfield, entitled "The Changeling" (not related to Angelina Jolie's 2008 film) which just dropped its first trailer.  Also, AppleTv+ has been dropping banger after banger in absolutely every category from Thriller, to Action, Sci-Fi and Comedy, if you haven't already, go and get yourselves a subscription before the prices increase to see some of streaming's best content.

Finally, another saga in the Detective Wallander series starring Kenneth Branagh, Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Dornan, and Tina Fey is releasing soon with a slight departure into the "horror" realm which we are deeming a rouse in the vain of "Scooby Doo", but are excited to get to see.  If you're a fan of mystery then you'll definitely be excited for the upcoming "A Haunting in Venice".

Summer of the 80s, Part 1: 1980 - Overexposed? Overlooked? (The Shining & The Changeling)

We had better get a head start on summer, with the first in a series of episodes featuring horror movies from the 80s.  Because we're behind schedule with episode releases and we're going to have to do some cramming!

And there's probably no better way to kick things off than with Stanley Kubrick's version of the Stephen King classic, The Shining (1980). Is it just a little bit overexposed, though? Why is it so enduringly fascinating? Are the Grady "twins" actually twins? And can someone just go visit the location where The Shining was filmed? This is such a huge, intimidating movie, that we had to call in some backup. The Average Amy returns to the podcast to help us answer some of these questions.

How about a  slow-burn haunter that may be somewhat overlooked? George C. Scott moves into a historically preserved mansion after the deaths of his wife and daughter, and ends up as the point of contact for a ghost seeking to expose the truth in The Changeling (1980). It does include a really impressive, believable séance scene. Hey, you have to have a séance!

And then from there, it's the Common Craig's Top 5 list of horror movies from 1980!

    1980 (Part 2)

    1980 (Part 2)

It's time for one of those massive episodes. Well, it's a four parter anyways. 1980 was massive for horror movies. As well as containing those auteur driven, massive studio movies, exploitation cinema was still in full flow, the underground was rich at this point in time . So what do I think was the very greatest horror movie that came out during '80? Well, here we have the top 10. The worst 10. A slew of also rans. Some awesome mates. Some special guests. Several pints of beer and a 7+ hour running time split over 4 episodes. This is the 1980, A Year In Horror.

It's a truly long journey this one, part 2 of 4 in fact. I am going to give you the time codes below so if you don't want spoilers then, please, avert your eyes.

Below are the timecodes for all the different segments and my guest links. Feel free to let me know where you think I got it wrong or right and of course stay safe out there & I'll see you next month.

The Lost Podcasts Of Titan Episode 40: Star Trek The Original Series "The Changeling"

A Father and Son revisit the Star Trek Episode where the first movie was ripped off Wholesale.  Also Spock can now mind meld with computers, so it raises questions.  Also Uhura was mind wiped and could get back to college level in less then a day.  This raises some odd questions about how education really works in the Federation.
