Perfectionism can keep us from starting altogether, stop us mid-art, and suck the joy out of the finished creative project. Can you relate?
This week on the podcast, Merideth chats with Enneagram One, Kendra Adachi (aka The Lazy Genius) about holding creative goals loosely, embracing imperfection, and becoming the architecture of your creative life.
Invitation:
1. Kendra's advice: "Ask someone you trust what they believe you bring to the creative process."
2. Explore The Lazy Genius' Magic Question: "What can I do now to make something easier later?"
3. Kendra says she lives by Suzanne Stabile's question, "What is mine to do?" Take this question to your journal and see what comes up.

This week on the podcast, some coaching questions and beautiful music for your earbuds. Explore these questions and reflect in your journal or with a friend as you listen:
Reflect on how you want to grow. Imagine yourself being the person you dream of being. What is it like to be that person in your imagination?
What do you need to practice? How can you break down your specific fear into smaller and smaller pieces that you can work through in your time?
In the face of fear, how can you love yourself well? What do you want your inner artist-child to know? What concrete things can you do to love yourself more today, this minute?

EP.157 - Seeking Wisdom with Julia Cameron, International Bestselling Author of The Artist's Way
Seeking Wisdom: A Spiritual Path to Creative Connection
Julia Cameron has been Hailed by the New York Times as "The Queen of Change".
Julia Cameron is credited with starting a movement in 1992 that has brought creativity into the mainstream conversation, in the arts, in business and everyday life.
She is the best-selling author of more than forty books, fiction and nonfiction, a poet, songwriter, filmmaker and playwright.
Commonly referred to as "The Godmother" or "High Priestess" of creativity, her tools are based in practice, not theory, and she considers herself "the floor sample of her own toolkit".
The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity was published thirty years ago, and it has been translated into forty languages and sold over five million copies to date.
In Seeking Wisdom, Julia Cameron invites you to nurture your creativity by connecting with your higher power.
Julia Cameron returns to the spiritual roots of the Artists Way in this 6-week Program.
Tracing her own creative journey, Cameron reveals that prayer led her forward at a time of personal crisis.
Unexpectedly, prayer became an indispensable support to her artistic life.
The tools she created to save herself in her darkest hour became the tools she would share with the world through The Artist's Way.
Seeking Wisdom details the origin of these tools, and by Cameron's example, the central role that prayer plays in sustaining a life as an artist.
In this volume, Cameron shares a mindful collection of prayer practices that open our creative souls.
This path takes us beyond traditional religious rituals, welcoming readers regardless of their beliefs and backgrounds.
As you journey through each week of the program, you'll explore prayers of petition, gratitude, creativity, and more.
Along the way, the three beloved tools of The Artist's Way, Morning Pages, Artist Dates, and Walks are refreshed and re-introduced, to provide a proven, grounded framework for growth and development.
Additionally, Cameron introduces a fourth tool, Writing Out Guidance.
She believes this powerful practice will greatly aid aspiring artists.
Seeking Wisdom issues an invitation to step further into exciting creative practice.

The truth about sustaining an artistic career or a creative life, is that the less seriously we take ourselves, the more serious work we will probably be able to bring forth. Our creative lives, just like marriage or committed relationships, need romance and playfulness and adventure!
