    Thorns

We all have thorns and we must use the Word of God to uproot all the thorns out of our heart. The enemy uses thorns (cares of this world, deceitfulness of riches and lust) to try choke the word out of us so we can become unfruitful. However, meditation on the Word of God and obedience to the Spirit, will cause us to become fruitful and we will reach our God ordained destiny.

Parable of the Sower - Audio

Parable of the Sower - Audio
Sunday, February 13, 2022 – Today we are studying the “Parable of the Sower”. It’s interesting that Jesus begins the number of parables He speaks in Matthew 13 with this discussion on the condition of the soil of a man’s heart as it pertains to his/her ability to hear, understand, and apply the Word of God. Jesus compares the heart of a person, with the various conditions of the soil as a farmer would scatter the seed at the beginning of the growing season. We’re going to discuss what this means throughout the message today. What we’re going to prepare our hearts for is to answer the question at the end of which group of people we’re in? The group that readily hears, understands, accepts, and applies Godly principles and truths that change us to be productive and fruit-bearing in the Kingdom, or are we going to find ourselves in the group that – for various reasons – rejects the word of God and all His truths and finds ourselves unfit for the Kingdom. Worship and study with and ask the Holy Spirit to prepare your heart to hear what the Lord has to say…

    A Crown of Thorns

    A Crown of Thorns
Jesus knows and understands pain. He willingly wore a painful, thorny crown for you. So yes, when you suffer, be comforted that Jesus identifies with you. But consider that your suffering is also a way to experience a sweeter depth of knowing Jesus as you resonate with his pain.-------- Thank you for listening! Your support of Joni and Friends helps make this show possible.   Joni and Friends envisions a world where every person with a disability finds hope, dignity, and their place in the body of Christ. The Parable of the Sower - Paul M. Williams

The Parable of the Sower - Paul M. Williams

    Matthew 13:1-9

J.C Ryle said of this parable; “The four kinds of hearts it describes are to be found in every assembly which hears the word.  These circumstances should make us always read the parable with a deep sense of its importance.  We should say to ourselves as we read it: “This concerns me. My heart is to be seen this parable. I, too, am here”.  Well said, Brother Ryle!!

The child of God ever runs the dangerous possibility of becoming overfamiliar with those texts which he hears the most.  The Parable of the Sower is perhaps at the forefront of this list.  May we listen to this sermon with ears and eyes afresh and in so doing, may God grant us to see the soil condition of our hearts.

    Sansa 1: Friend or Foe?

Brotherhood Without Manners, your favorite full spoiler reread podcast of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, is back with another chapter from Storm of Swords.

This episode we read Sansa 1 as she attends dinner with the ladies of House Tyrell.

Sansa is in a panicked state as she receives an invitation from Margaery Tyrell, her replacement as Joffrey's queen to be.

Escorted by the beautifully handsome Loras Tyrell, Sansa discusses his past tournaments and the loss of Renly Baratheon.

Sansa meets Margaery and quickly realizes that she may be in over her head.

As Olenna gives Sansa a taste as to why she is called the Queen of Thorns, she also finds out about the monster behind the prince.

Sansa has another glimmer of hope as she is promised to wed Willas Tyrell and be moved to Highgarden.

As always we read listener emails and give some inductees.

His Last Days, Part 4: Crucifixion

His Last Days, Part 4: Crucifixion
Pastor Marc Sharp continues our current series, “His Last Days”, on this Good Friday with Part 4. After a night filled with agonized, solitary prayer in an olive grove (prayer so intense that he was sweating blood); after being betrayed by one of his friends, denied by another, and abandoned by them all; after 4 trials before both the Jews and the Romans, after mockery that included being spit upon, punched, and crowned with a thorn branch; after being brutally whipped, leaving his back muscles lacerated to the bone, and causing a near fatal loss of blood, Christ is now commanded to carry the crossbeam of his cross uphill to the place where his death sentence will be carried out.
