#108 - February 1996 - Happy Gilmore, Black Sheep, & Slide by Goo Goo Dolls

Join Andrew and Brandon as they travel back to February 1996 because they’re run out of June episodes to do. After the break they have their most two sided movie discussion in a normal episode over Happy Gilmore. Then it’s back to Brandon having to explain Black Sheep and Tommy Boy to Andrew. We close out with Brandon reading Slide by the Goo Goo Dolls.

1995: Tommy Boy / Top 5 TV shows

1995: Tommy Boy / Top 5 TV shows

Chris Farley left us too soon. Fortunately, in addition to the many hilarious SNL skits he was a part of, we have the movie Tommy Boy, Pete’s choice for 1995. Now 26 years old, how does is hold up? Is it as laugh out loud funny as we remembered? Where does it rank amongst the classic comedies, especially from the 90’s? Listen as Pete, Brad, and Giff share their opinions about this modern day odd couple.

After wrapping up our thoughts on the film, we rank our favorite LOL movies of all time. These aren’t necessarily the best comedy movies, but the ones that made us laugh the loudest and the longest. Since Tommy Boy is somewhat related to SNL, our other list for this week is our TV discussion of 1995. Was their anything important besides OJ??? Don’t miss this one. Years from now, when you are discussing great PCY episodes from the past, you’ll want your friend to say, “Rob, you were there!”

    #42 - March 1995 - Sliders, Tommy Boy, & Baby, It’s You

Join Andrew and Brandon as they journey to March 1995, but not before they discuss the live action Powerpuff Girls announcement and what podcasts the boys are listening to. After the break, they talk about one of Andrew’s 3 favorite obscure 90s shows - Sliders starring Jerry O’Connell. Brandon tries to remember NewsRadio, which he watched on reruns. They move on to Tommy Boy, which of course, Andrew has not seen, and finish with the Beatles’ single Baby, It’s You. Also the Chicken Pox Vaccine.

Episode 33 - John Candy vs Chris Farley - "Park's closed. Moose out front shoulda told ya"

Episode 33 - John Candy vs Chris Farley - "Park's closed. Moose out front shoulda told ya"

John Candy versus Chris Farley- Today's Battle Royale, Banger In the Streets.
We start off this episode with Ike thinking he has a timor.  Or maybe wants him to think it's a tumor.  Who knows...

Todays episode asks the age old question- John Candy or Chris Farley.
We love them both because they were eternally children-
With that sentiment, Misty gets to explain to Ike what Arrested Development actually means.

How do you compare Uncle Buck and Tommy Boy, is there a way to consider one a clear winner.
In Candy's corner, we have- SpaceBalls, Home Alone, Cool Runnings,
Stripes, National Lampoons, Brewsters Millions, Little Shop of Horrors,

In Farleys corner, we have Saturday Night Live- The Chippendales, Black Sheep, Beverly Hills Ninja, Coneheads, Waynes World, Airheads, Almost Heroes and Dirty Work.

Farley had a pretty epic friendship with fellow comedians Adam Sandler and David Spade.
Last time Misty and Ike watched David Spade, edibles were involved.

All this convo leads us into the is it better to burn out or to fade away convo.
And did their popularity stem from the era they were in and is one more popular than the other due to the amount of time they had.

And we would be remiss if we didn't include some conversation about John Belushi, speedballs and Bowie sprinkling coke on his Cornflakes

Find out who we vote for!

As soon as this episode was recorded, Misty actually did go out into the desert and primal scream for a few days.  Ike still can't talk good.
