In der neuen Folge unseres historischen Podcast geht es um den 20. Juli 1997: Der Tag, an dem James Bonds BMW das Fliegen lernte 25 Jahre sind vergangen, seit auf der Mönckebergstraße in Hamburg die spektakuläre Filmszene für den James-Bond-Streifen „Tomorrow Never Dies“, zu Deutsch: „Der Morgen stirbt nie“ gedreht wurde. Es war der zweite 007-Film mit Pierce Brosnan in der Hauptrolle. MOPO-Podcast-Chef Matthias Lorenz-Meyer und MOPO-Chefreporter Olaf Wunder plaudern darüber, ob da wirklich ein BMW vom Dach fiel oder mit welchen Tricks gearbeitet wurde. Es geht auch um die Frage, was es eigentlich damit auf sich hat, dass der Doppelnull-Agent seinen Wodka Martini stets geschüttelt trinkt, niemals gerührt.

Spooky Season is over, pumpkin spice has completely permeated the air, and the Holidays are just around the corner. You know what that means; it's time to give thanks to our favorite British spy. The name's Bond. James Bond.

This year we each highlighted a personal favorite that might not be well remembered. Frank went dove deep to nominate Thunderball while Tomorrow Never Dies left Matt black, white, and read all over. We also give our first impressions on No Time to Die, but kept it brief.

Troisième épisode consacré à non pas un mais deux incarnations de 007 sur 15 ans !

A ma droite, Timothy Dalton. Âgé de 40 ans lorsque l'acteur Britannique est officialisé dans le rôle en 1986, il est à mille lieues de la nonchalance de son prédécesseur. En seulement 2 films son interprétation nerveuse (et parfois violente) n'aura pas vraiment séduit le grand public sans doute pas encore prêt à un James Bond vengeur. Bref, c'est ce qu'on appelle un rendez-vous manqué. Et pourtant, n'anonçait-il pas un peu l'ère Daniel Craig, 20 ans plus tard ?

A ma gauche, Pierce Brosnan. Gendre idéal au charisme indéniable, l'acteur Irlandais prend (enfin) le rôle en 1994 à l'âge de 41 ans après avoir déjà été approché par la production dans les années 80 (Remington Steele). Plus jovial et plus frimeur mais tout de même dans le feu de l'action quand il le faut, Brosnan aura quand même marqué toute une génération avec sa première mission Goldeneye en 1995. Quant aux trois films suivants, James aurait dû fermer sa braguette.

On analyse tout ça toujours en compagnie de Thomas Camacho, Pierre Delort, Julien Munoz et Ilan Ferry.

We took a break from our commentaries to bring you a recap of a film starring a Bond actor, and now that we regret that more than life itself, it's time to get back into what we do best in try and stay on topic while talking over a Bond movie! Today we do that again with our final Pierce Brosnan commentary (*sniff* calm down Ben) as we find out about Jon Tenney and his dream once more with our commentary of Tomorrow Never Dies. Why does this movie need more love? Who once was Canadian who apparently isn't Canadian anymore? Why is Pierce Brosnan just so damn beautiful? Is Teri Hatcher underrated as a Bond girl? Was Ben an idiot for ranking the title song of this movie so high? Why do we need to even mention Zardoz again this time around? And how long can the boys stay on topic throughout this commentary?
