Glory All Around Us | 2 Corinthians 3:12-16

Glory All Around Us | 2 Corinthians 3:12-16
There is a veil over the eyes of mankind that can only be lifted by the Spirit of God when they turn to Christ. In our day the veil is being lifted in ways never before seen in history. I can only assume that means the times of the Gentiles are coming to an end and the return of the Lord is nearing. The passage we are looking at ends with an incredible truth. As we behold the glory of the Lord we are transformed into the same image from glory to glory. The sermon delves into the wonder of what that means.

Why the Church Needs To Talk About Sexuality - Sally Gary

Sally Gary is founder and director of CenterPeace, a 501(c)(3) non-profit ministry dedicated to creating space for conversation about faith and sexuality. Growing up in Churches of Christ in the ‘60s & ‘70s, Sally has a great love for the spiritual heritage that first introduced her to Jesus and instilled in her a strong faith. But as a gay Christian, she knows firsthand the pain of wrestling with her own faith and sexuality, and how difficult it can be to stay connected to church, to Christianity, to God with no support from your faith community. This is what drives Sally’s passion for CenterPeace, the ministry she founded in 2006 to create a place of belonging for LGBTQ+ Christians, encouraging them to hold onto faith and stay connected to God.

For over 16 years, CenterPeace has been building community for sexual minorities, hosting online and in-person retreats and other resources for nurturing the faith of LGBTQ+ individuals. CenterPeace also hosts retreats for families of LGBTQ+ youth, and workshops for churches and schools, and other organizations to foster greater inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community. Since 2009, CenterPeace has hosted a national conference featuring keynote speakers such as Justin Lee and Matthew Vines. The conference has attracted thousands over the years – LGBTQ+ Christians, church leaders, parents, and allies – from across the globe, for the purpose of learning how to love and embrace the LGBTQ+ community in our midst and beyond.

This year’s CenterPeace Conference is in Dallas, Texas, at Wilshire Baptist – a fully open and affirming Baptist church – November 3 – 5. Jeff Chu of “Evolving Faith” is the featured keynote speaker, along with Justin and Matthew, Joel Hollier from Australia and Staci Frenes, singer/songwriter from Los Angeles. AND Rocky Roggio, director and creative genius behind the new film 1946, a documentary about mistranslation in Scripture.

Sally holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication from Abilene Christian University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Texas Tech University School of Law. A former high school speech and debate coach, trial lawyer and communication professor, Sally is a teacher at heart. Most of all, Sally is dedicated to serving queer youth, helping them know they are loved by God and that they always belong. Everywhere.

The author of Affirming: A Memoir of Faith, Sexuality, and Staying in the Church, Sally currently resides in Dallas, Texas, with her wife, Karen, and their miniature dapple dachshund, Rudy.

    From pain to purpose

    From pain to purpose

Keagen Hadley has found incredible passion and purpose through significant pain and trauma in his life. As a young man, he was a talented athlete and had a great future ahead of him in professional American Football. However, it was not meant to be as injuries and other challenges put an end to that dream forever. The saying goes when one door closes another one opens, and Keagan has been able take the pain he went through to now use it to help many people.

The physical challenges were one thing, but the mental and emotional challenges Keagen faced, were something entirely different. When he finally got to the place he knew he needed held and had the courage to courage to ask for it, he came across ACT, or Acceptance Commitment Therapy. He now uses this therapy to help others in his role as a Doctor of Occupational Therapy and psychiatric clinical researcher, and he specializes in using psychological treatments such as ACT with his clients.

Keagen, in his own words, describes himself as supremely passionate about what he is now doing, but is very aware that his purpose has come about through his own journey, pain and overcoming. In 2022, he achieved one of his lifelong dreams of becoming a published author with his first book, “Torn" his story and the lessons he learned on his journey. This is a powerful and inspiring conversation, not to be missed.

#161 - Conrad Anker | Heart Attack, Meru, Lunag Ri, Diversity In Climbing, Mentorship

[The interview starts eleven minutes in]

Conrad Anker (59) visited Norway for a couple of weeks to climb ice and spread some wisdom. On his way back to his home in Bozeman, Montana, he stopped by the NEDA studio in Oslo for a couple of hours.

Conrad is a climber, adventurer, author, storyteller, wilderness first responder, father, husband, and a man of wise words. He has opened new routes in Antarctica, Patagonia, Karakoram, Himalaya and Alaska for the last 40 years. In 1999 he found George Mallory's body on Mt. Everest, which had been laying there since 1924 when the Brits made the first real attemt to climb Everest. He has been in tons of climbing films, more noticably Meru, Lunag Ri 2nd Attempt, and Torn, which tells the heartbreaking story of how he lost his best friend and climbing partner, Alex Lowe, in an avalance on Shishmapangma in 1999 and how he fell in love and married Jenny, Lowe's widow, and adopted their kids.

This dude has lived life to the fullest and continues to do so. This is incredible conversation with an incredible human being.

    68. Can I See?: Jesus Said "I Do Only What I See My Father Do"; John 5; John Moore; Thursday Night

We are starting an exchange about what we can see when we are in union with the Son. We are looking to the scriptures to help guide us into the Kingdom of God through Jesus.  There  is dialog outside of "No man can see God and live (Religion)". There is so much in store for Sons (Daughters) beyond just salvation. We get to have an everyday relationship (secret place) with the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit, where we seek them, then we see them and  their kingdom.

#4 Noreen Music’s Story: Bouncing Back After Life Shattering News and Redefining Job Security

#4 Noreen Music’s Story: Bouncing Back After Life Shattering News and Redefining Job Security

In this episode Noreen talks about her life and how her corporate role challenged her in many ways. Noreen has traveled the world but has always lived in Calgary. She is from a big family and is an identical twin. Noreen was planning on going down the path of natural healing but decided to change directions. She then got a corporate job and over time she climbed the corporate ladder as she was willing to take on difficult tasks and was always curious.

Once she was in a leadership role many issues she had faced previously became worse. Noreen discusses her struggles of being the only woman in the room. She tried to change herself to fit in but realized she just needed to be herself. Due to the way she was treated she had a very inclusive leadership style with her team. She didn’t hide her beliefs and stayed strong throughout her journey there. Then everything changed… She was fired.

“Here I thought for so many years that having a job, being in the corporate world, was security but in a heart beat someone can decide that you are no longer useful. Give me your access card and business cards and don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Instantly you're done. Your whole life is shattered. Whereas doing something of my own that I pour my heart into and that no one gets to decide anything or the direction that my business goes. It’s my business and creation.”

Losing her job was devastating for Noreen. It took her many tears and lots of personal work to get to a place where she was okay. She decided that she was going to climb her second mountain differently than she climbed her first one. She decided to start her own business and she did it scared but she is so successful and would never turn back to the corporate world. Noreen is now a trained Professional Organizer and is the Owner of Organize My Space Calgary which specializes in home and office integration.

    Corporate Worship - Audio

    Corporate Worship - Audio
You and I are made, formed, created to be worshipers, is because even though you or I may not adoringly respond in heart and mind to the Spirit of God 24/7, we are nevertheless 24/7 adoringly responding in heart and mind to something. And you might say, “No, that’s not true, sometimes I’m just depressed,” and I’m just saying sometimes adoration leads people to depression when it’s not expressed, not sent towards the right object of worship.
