    Episode 71 - Revelation Made Relevant 3.1

    Episode 71 - Revelation Made Relevant 3.1

Life comes with many trials and difficulties, and you find that out the moment you take your first breath on this planet. Most times we may be able to lean on our friends and family to help us get by, but sometimes we’re on our own, or we feel that way. In the moment, we may decide to give up, thinking there’s no end in sight. We may even doubt our beliefs. So, what is the secret to persevering through hard times? The answer can be found in Psalm 11 verse 4, “The Lord is in His holy temple, The Lord’s throne is in heaven.” This is what John witnesses at the beginning of his vision. There John sees, in the words of Daniel, “one like the Son of Man” seated on a throne in the middle of the golden lampstands. This means the one who loves us and died for us has indeed overcome the world, and now reigns in heaven, assuring us of our own victory over this world no matter how difficult our life gets.

Episode 70 - Revelation made Relevant Part 2.2

Episode 70 - Revelation made Relevant Part 2.2

One of the many things to consider when studying the book of Revelation is how Jesus and the Father are presented. John is giving us a glimpse into heaven, a peek behind the veil to encourage us and confirm what we believe regarding the nature of God the Father and God the Son, Jesus Christ. The churches John was writing to were dealing with various issues, and some were enduring persecution. His account of what he witnessed, the revealing of what is truly real, was a sober reminder and warning to those in folly, and a cup of cold water to those faithful souls, wearied and parched. Today, we should draw encouragement from John’s witness, that everything, the entire universe and all that it contains, is held together by Christ, who is the Alpha and the Omega.

60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: NewsAudioLetter Announcement! What Is the Most Consequential Story You Can Tell?

60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: NewsAudioLetter Announcement! What Is the Most Consequential Story You Can Tell?

Hello to you listening in Kelowna, BC, Canada!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories from Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga inviting you to subscribe to my Quarter Moon Story Arts Monthly NewsAudioLetter where you will join a growing movement of people who are shaping storytelling to shift attitudes, behaviors, even cultures.

Previously, in the October 2023 issue of the Quarter Moon Story Arts NewsAudioLetter we explored the transformative power of storytelling to enliven and empower listeners to action by creating shared emotional experiences. The listener enters into and becomes the story so she can reckon with life encounters by identifying with the plot or characters without actually experiencing the consequences.

In the November edition I delve into the concept of origin stories, highlighting their role as the foundation of professional and personal identities carved from pivotal life moments and overcoming challenges. I encourage you to embark on an "archaeological dig" to discover your genuine storytelling voice, acknowledging that this process is not for the faint-hearted. But, the benefits of crafting an engaging origin story include self-discovery and identity, effective communication, brand development, leadership impact, and the ability to present oneself, one's work, one’s narrative in a compelling  manner.

To help you get closer to creating your origin story, I’ve provided two practical exercises. The first involves exploring character traits through a partner's prompts, while the second encourages recalling and dealing with pivotal life moments using your bonus gift, the Story Spine framework .

As my clients have learned, your origin story is the most consequential story of your life. Why? It tells the story of how you got from there to here. Your story in your voice will connect with, engage and influence your audience to action while also transforming the lives of those you serve. Nothing else has that power!

CTA: Let's dive into your Origin Story: covering everything from what it is to the challenges to the gains. If claiming your origin story sounds like something you’ve been waiting to do click this LINK to learn more and subscribe.

    Not Conforming but Transforming

    Not Conforming but Transforming
In our continuing study of Romans, today Pastor Mark leads us through the second verse of chapter 2. Consider with us the two-part command, not to conform to the pattern of this world (age, era, zeitgeist) but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, which will result in being able to test and to approve what God's will is.

Not Ashamed of the Rescue [Romans 03]

Not Ashamed of the Rescue [Romans 03]

    Romans 1: 13-17 // Tom Nelson

Christianophobia is defined as a growing cultural phenomenon marked by an increasingly intense animosity against Christians and the Christian faith. Christians face increased discrimination and greater hostility in many sectors of society including media, the academy, business and government. How should we as followers of Jesus live in the context of a culture of growing hostility to what we believe and our moral commitments? Some today are choosing to separate from culture, more it seems are changing their beliefs and moral commitments in order to accommodate to culture. Yet I find an increasing number of Christians who are living in the shadows of a kind of fearful silence. Tragically separation from culture or accommodation to culture is not the answer to navigating an increasingly hostile culture, nor is a fearful silence. A better and more biblical way of navigating our contemporary culture is what Christian sociologist James Hunter has rightly called, a faithful presence witness.

SMW # 9 - Transforming Compliance into a Business Enabler Ft. Ethan Altman, Anecdotes

SMW # 9 - Transforming Compliance into a Business Enabler Ft. Ethan Altman, Anecdotes

What if you could reverse the high costs of expanding your Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) program? What if compliance could become a business enabler, not an expensive obligation? This week on Security Market Watch, we've got Ethan Altmann from Anecdotes to shed some light. We explore the complexities that come with global business expansion, the burgeoning expense and how innovative tools like Anecdotes can streamline processes - transforming compliance from a burdensome cost into a value-add for your enterprise.

Security and compliance teams often operate in silos, but pairing them can unlock a world of potential. Ethan guides us through the dynamics of this partnership, the challenges it presents, and the rewarding outcomes of a collaborative approach. We also uncover how AI is revolutionizing the GRC space and how it can bridge the gap between these two key teams. Also on the agenda is the increasingly popular NIST CSF framework, its benefits for continuous control monitoring, and the growing demand for risk quantification support.

We wrap up our chat by focusing on risk and vulnerabilities. Global business decisions can have a significant impact on these, and Ethan emphasizes the need for a comprehensive perspective to assess risk. He introduces us to tools such as risk registers and highlights the OWASP's top 10 threats. We also discuss the upcoming NIST CSF 2.0 framework, and how it can help organizations monitor their controls more effectively. Lastly, we stress the importance of uniform risk language within an organization and how vital training is for risk mitigation. Join us for an enlightening discussion, we promise you won't leave without some valuable insights.
