KBK Bite Size vol 1 Trilogy of Terror (1972)

Terrifying things come in small packages! Welcome one and all to our new off-week format, where we make a meal out of one story from a horror anthology - we call it Kill By Kill: Bite Size! This week, we bring home the standout segment from 1972’s TRILOGY OF TERROR entitled Amelia - but you know it better for its antagonist, the Zuni Fetish Doll!! Along the way, we talk about creating distance between yourself and a clingy Mom, Richard Matheson: Man of Many Ideas, explore all the insane wallpaper choices, consider Karen Black’s subtle acting choices, test market depression figurines, connect the dots between this segment and other 70s and 80s horror classics, and delve into the activities of this apartment’s many mice!!

17th Annual A-Z of Horror Festival, The Final Chapter (A Quiet Place Part II, REC 2, The Spiral Staircase, Trilogy of Terror, Uncle Was a Vampire, Varan, The Wailing, X, YellowBrickRoad, The Zodiac Killer)

If you've made it this far, you've arrived at the Final Chapter of the 17th Annual A-Z of Horror Festival. We're closing things out with a mainstream Hollywood hit, a 75-year-old chiller, a modern South Korean classic, incoherent anime, and exploitation trash that perhaps only the Common Craig could love. How about a nice, easy list of what movies we cover in the episode? Because I'm exhausted!

    • A Quiet Place Part II (2021)
    • REC 2 (2009)
    • The Spiral Staircase (1946)
    • Trilogy of Terror (1975)
    • Uncle Was a Vampire (1959)
    • Varan (1958)
    • The Wailing (2016)
    • X (1996)
    • YellowBrickRoad (2010)
    • The Zodiac Killer (1971)

And then from there, we look back at what we enjoyed and what we despised from the festival. Thanks for hanging out with us for another festival, listeners!

The Golden Age of Made For T.V. Movies

The Golden Age of Made For T.V. Movies

Starting in the 1960s the big three U.S. television stations went into feature film production as a means of self generating films and creating exciting televised 'events' to counter those pesky big screen theatres that were pulling audiences like crazy.

Thus was born the Movie of the Week !! The feature length specials that made television history.

Sure they were burdened with low budgets and constrained with prime time censorship but they circumvented these restrictions with wit, suggestion and slight of hand.

This resulted in some glorious genre classics - Horror. Thrillers. Exploitation. Fantasy, you name it and sometimes they got away with some jaw dropping subject matter too!

Some films launched careers, some launched television series, some have been all but forgotten.

Join Luis and Glenn as they yak about the history, the movies and the memories of 'The Movie Of The Week'!
And a first:  Enjoy trailers and commercial spots for Born Innocent', 'Get Christy Love', 'Night Stalker', 'Helter Skelter' and more!

And of course wild tangents other stuff.
