Love It, Enjoy It, Destroy it: Walt Disney World Hotels Edition

Do you wish you could stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel for the rest of your life?  We do!  This week, we take a look at the Disney resorts we would love to live in forever, the resorts we would enjoy one fun night in and the one that we will destroy.

We start with the WDW's Value resorts and decide between the All-Stars, Pop Century Resort or Art of Animation.  What will we love, enjoy or destroy? There is some interesting discussion here between Art of Animation and the All-Star Resorts.  Pop Century seems to be the middle child here.  We move on to the Disney's Moderate category and decide between Port Orleans, Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs.  This discussion shows that we all have a favorite and we don't seem to agree.

We move into the Disney Deluxe Category next.  We narrow it down to choosing between the Contemporary Resort, Polynesian Resort or the Grand Floridian Resort.  This discussion is where the fun begins.  We discuss fireworks views, the restaurants and the sights of these extraordinary resorts.  Its hard to choose between these wonderful hotels, but we manage to find away.

Finally, we open the discussion up and talk about the three places we would choose if we didn't have limits.  Would we still bulldoze the All-Stars, where would we choose to live the rest of our life? It gets a little off the rails, but we have a lot of fun discussing it!

Retheming Indiana Jones Stunt Show at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Retheming Indiana Jones Stunt Show at Disney's Hollywood Studios

The Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular at Disney's Hollywood Studios is a fun experience that was almost an opening day attraction for the park.  It seems to be ripe for a change and we thought we'd take a stab at what we could do with it.  We'll each make our big pitch.  Mykhailo wants to bring Cars Land to the space and we'll talk about what it would take to make that happen.  Bryan thinks a Muppets themed dark ride would be a great addition to the park, but do the Muppets have enough interest to support a new attraction?  We'll talk through it.

Once we've finished those discussions we'll take a look at what other Intellectual Property could fit in the space.  We discuss the possibility of Rapunzel ride from Tangled. Or maybe a new show with Encanto.  We also get into the history of how Tower of Terror and Alien Extraterrorestial was put into place as we figure out how to create an attraction without using IP.

One Final Ride: What Disney Attraction Deserves a Final Goodbye?

One Final Ride: What Disney Attraction Deserves a Final Goodbye?

This week, we're looking at attractions that deserve that final ride.  We ask the question, What attraction would you drop everything to go experience one last time.  Will you go to the Magic Kingdom for a last ride on Haunted Mansion?  Would you run for Epcot if they closed Frozen Ever After?  Or how about If they were shutting down Rock n Roller Coaster with Aerosmith?

We also go on a couple of tangents. One about the Disney College Program and one about the history of Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Westcot.  We even get into the ill-fated Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser.  Overall, we really find which rides are worth that one final ride.

Let us know what Walt Disney World attraction you would give that one final ride.

Candlelight Processional, Epcot Eats, Garden Grill - Our Final Disney Day!

Candlelight Processional, Epcot Eats, Garden Grill - Our Final Disney Day!

We finish up our discussion of our couples trip discussing our Epcot day.  We had a great time riding Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind for the first time together.  We'll discuss strategies for Guardians.  We also ate a ton of food during the Festival of the Holidays.  Not only did we peruse the countries and food, but we also enjoyed Norway's Barn Santa, ate all the cookies and even dined at Garden Grill.

Eating at Garden Grill was essential to our evening event as we finished the night watching John Stamos narrate the Candlelight Processional.  This was the highlight of the entire trip and it was great to relive that moment as we discuss it on the show.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party & Our Disney World Couples Trip

    Happy New Year!

After a busy December that got away from us, we finally get together to talk about our Christmas trip to Walt Disney World.  Bryan, Tammy, Mykhailo and Kristin are together to cover Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom.  We'll cover how we handled getting in, buying merchandise and all the food.  But that's not all, we talk about favorite moments at the party together, what we think of the fireworks, the parade and the stage show.  Finally, find out our thoughts about the meet and greets at the party along with how much you actually can get done in one party night.

Not only are we covering the party, but this goes to a larger discussion of how to tour with another couple.  Did we get mad at each other? Did we have fun? Did we ditch each other to get our own things done?  We'll cover all this and more.

In the end, we had a terrific time and we love getting to report on it!

Planning a Magical Non-Park Day at Disney: Food, Festivity, and More

In our latest podcast episode, we leave no stone unturned on how to plan a memorable non-park day at Disney. Bound by our collective love for all things Disney, we aim to craft a balanced plan that ensures everyone has a good time without the fear of burnout. Mykhailo, Kristin, Tammy and Bryan are all here to put together a non-park adventure around Disney Spring and the Walt Disney World Resort.  From enjoying the mouth-watering delights of Gideon's Bakery to exploring the unique offerings of Scat Cat Cafe, we make sure to weave in relaxation amidst the thrill.

Ever wondered about the beautiful resorts that line the Disney landscape? We tackle the logistics of traveling between these delightful spaces and discuss different modes of transportation that can make your day an adventure in itself. Add to that, our tips on planning meals and snacks, and you've got yourself a day chock-full of gourmet delicacies. The highlight of our plan? A night out at Trader Sam's, where the fun truly begins.

As we navigate through our hypothetical journey, we'll also explore festive activities like viewing the gingerbread house at Grand Floridian, attending the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party and even look at holiday fun at Epcot. We'll ponder over the most efficient way to manage time, and even discuss the possibility of splitting the group to cover more ground. And between all this festive fun and frolic, we'll also weigh the pros and cons of a pool day versus a Magic Kingdom morning. So, buckle up and join us as we paint a picture of an exciting, fun-filled, and magical day at Disney that goes beyond the parks!

What About Vietnam – S5_E3 – Heritage and discovery in Saigon, The Mekong Delta and Dalat

What About Vietnam – S5_E3 – Heritage and discovery in Saigon, The Mekong Delta and Dalat

In this podcast episode, I have the opportunity to introduce you to Vicki Thai, a Health Care Sales professional living in Utah, USA, with Vietnamese heritage.

Vicki's family immigrated to the United States from Vietnam when she was four years old, and during her growing up, she had never given much thought to her Vietnamese background. However, a moment of vulnerability in her mother's health led her to realize the importance of experiencing her heritage. She decided to plan a trip to Vietnam with her mother and reached out to the "What About Vietnam" podcast for assistance.

As I knew the background to the tour, I took great pleasure in planning this trip for Vicki and her mum, which included visits to Saigon, the Mekong Delta, and Dalat. These locations held special significance for Vicki and her mother, allowing them to explore their roots and connect with their heritage. Unexpectedly, the trip evoked strong emotions and a newfound appreciation for their Vietnamese identity.

During their stay in Vietnam, Vicki and her mother engaged with the local people, immersed themselves in the country's culture, and marveled at the landscapes. This experience transformed Vicki's perception of her birthplace, instilling a deep sense of pride in her heritage. She also praises the warmth and thoughtfulness of the Vietnamese people, particularly their tour guides, and one in particular in Saigon, Ms Thuy.

The episode highlights Vicki's journey through Saigon, the Mekong Delta, and Dalat, showcasing her awe and discovery of these places. I think for those who don’t live in their country of birth, you will relate to Vicki's story.

Despite the trip going mostly smoothly, there was a minor glitch, illustrating that while many aspects can be controlled, some factors remain unpredictable.

From the bustling vibrant city of Saigon, Vicki takes us by the hand as she describes her love of the bustling city of Saigon, to her awe and disbelief cruising through the Mekong Delta and then to discovering through the forests, the city of Dalat. A city she totally didn’t expect, while being her mothers’ birth city.

At a deeper level this episode offers insight into the transformative power of heritage exploration and the deep connections it can foster.

Drafting the Perfect Disney Theme Park - Great Shows around WDW

Drafting the Perfect Disney Theme Park - Great Shows around WDW

We continue drafting pieces of our prefect parks.  We are looking at the shows around Walt Disney World.  Some of the shows being picked are now specific to what will work for our parks, but the shows are still some of the best shows that you should be experiencing on your trip.  We talk Fantasmic, Beauty and the Beast and even the Muppets. After we finish up this draft, which Bryan gets the number one pick, we do some trivia and of course pass it to you for your chance to win.
