    Trying To Make It

    Trying To Make It

"I think I started taking life real seriously at like age 21. Like some other people out there in life by 21, they are already world champions and stuff. But there was no one really there to say, 'go and get it'. You just kind of exist I guess, go at your own pace and whatever comes in front of you, you handle it"

    Barriers

    Barriers

In our penultimate episode of Homebound Season 2, we tackle the topic of barriers. Barriers placed on us, and those we place on ourselves. In times of isolation, barriers become heightened, as does our attention to how we are able and unable to navigate them.

Listen as our intergenerational community authentically share the mountains they've encountered in their storied and fresh histories; and what they've done when faced with those barriers. What barriers has life thrown your way? What have you learned from taking another route?  How have you changed due to the barriers you've encountered?

Go on, get your hopes up!

Go on, get your hopes up!

It all comes down to one question: are you willing to bet on yourself? Because if you don’t, how can you expect anyone else to? Backing yourself isn’t being boastful. It’s about making the experience more enjoyable for you.

Neither Ghost Nor Machine with Dr. Jeremy Sherman! 129

Who are we? Why do we worry about the past and future? What is the meaning of trying and striving? Dr. Jeremy Sherman was the perfect person to ask! He has a Ph.D. in evolutionary epistemology, which seeks to explain how organisms that came from chemistry ended up learning how to make efforts to strive and survive. In 2017, he wrote Neither Ghost Nor Machine: The Emergence and Nature of Selves which dives deep into those ideas. He uses all kinds of media platforms- books, podcasts, articles, you name it! We were so honored to host him and pick his brain about so many interesting topics!

This little Cardinal outside my Window.

There were two Cardinals flying around playing together outside my window.  The other Cardinal flew away and ever since it's been out 30 minutes and he's been waiting on his partner to return and I cried for him because he hasn't moved from this spot and it's cold outside.  He has shown Strength and is Determined and not willing to give up.  I hope his partner returns before he flies away.

Episode 2: Failure is not a bad thing

Episode 2: Failure is not a bad thing

    Are you afraid of failure?
In Episode 2 of The Amanda Ferguson Show, I share the many things that I failed in. Often, we are afraid of failure because we view failure as a negative. We associate people that fail as failures. It is not true!

This episode will remind you that sometimes failure is God’s plan. I have failed at several ventures throughout my life. Ventures that I never truly believed in, ventures that were not built on a firm foundation, and ultimately ventures that were not in God’s plan. Without failure, I would’ve continued making the same mistakes.

I would encourage you to fail more often, fail every single day. People only see the success, but you know all the work it took behind the scenes.

I want to challenge you not to compromise your relationship with God to get rich quick. Rather make sure your business is Christ-centered and allows you to not only prosper financially but also maintain the biblical principles of your home.

Allow me to speak into your life through this episode and remind you that there’s a significant thing that God has placed in you, for you to show the world and be a blessing for his glory to be revealed.

Strategies on why failure is NOT a bad thing:

    1. [4:26] Advertising a product that is not in line with who you are or what you believe in is not authentic. If you have failed with this, at least you have tried. Behind a successful person, there was a failure.

    2. [8:57] Not everyone is called to be an entrepreneur. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have an additional source of income.

    3. [19:33] Be prepared to put in the work. Hard work is part of the process. How bad do you want it?

    4. [21:27] Remember not to follow your passion but your work ethic.
