Episode 317: Mark 5 Part 2 Do Not Be Afraid

Jairus’ 12 year old daughter was sick and was dying. He seeks out Jesus and asks him to come to his house and lay hands on her to heal her. In other words, Jesus was his hope. As they were going to Jairus’ house, there was an interruption…a woman with a hemorrhage for 12 years heard about Jesus and she makes a B-line to him. This interruption takes long enough that Jairus’ daughter dies but as soon as he receives the news, Jesus looks at him and says, “Do not be afraid…only believe.” In other words, don’t give up hope…I got this. Jesus goes to his house, grabs the girl by the hand, and tells her to getup. She immediately gets up and starts walking around as if nothing ever happened. Don’t wait until you are desperate to turn to Jesus…go to him now! Put your faith in him and trust him!

And we can learn from this passage, insight, wisdom principles, that we need to apply to our life so that we are indeed, those who reflect and bear witness to the holiness and the glory and the righteousness of the kingdom of God. Matthew 15:10-20 Cleansing Defiled Hearts

I. In vv10-11 Jesus says our problem is not what goes into us, but what is already inside of us. II. In vv12-14 Jesus straightforwardly tells his disciples the Pharisees and scribes can’t be trusted. III. vv15-18 What comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. IV. And so, in vv19-20, the heart of the problem is the problem of the heart.

Unclean - The Book of Acts

In this Bible Story, Peter discovers that the kingdom of God is expanding to more than just the Jews. Through his interactions with Cornelius, Peter begins to learn that God was going to extend his reach to all the nations. This story is inspired by Acts 10:1-11:18. At the same time, Peter was praying and in a vision experienced a message from God about calling anything unclean or common. When the men sent by Cornelius arrived, he went with them, and when the whole party arrived at the house of Cornelius, Peter saw what God was trying to tell him. He then obediently preached the message of Jesus to Cornelius’ entire household. All of Cornelius’ family and friends came to believe in Jesus and were baptized.
