    Luke Chapter 10 Part 3

    Luke Chapter 10 Part 3
I want to begin by sharing something personal about me. And that is most of the time and listen carefully. Didn't say all the time, but most of the time. I know what God expects from me. And you say That's wonderful, well, not in its entirety. Why? Just because we know what God wants from us doesn't mean necessarily, that we're going to carry it out. Suffering and Salvation (1 Peter 3:17-22) [Rod Ohmes] - Audio

Suffering and Salvation (1 Peter 3:17-22) [Rod Ohmes] - Audio
When Peter introduces the idea of suffering and it sometimes being God’s will for the Christian, he immediately draws our attention to the suffering of Jesus [v.18]. The only way an unrighteous person is brought to God as righteous is through Christ’s suffering. In Christ, Christians have died to sin and made alive in the Spirit. In the challenging verses here, Peter seems to be focusing on the safe passage of a few (eight) faithful people through water. This might have been the picture that came to Peter’s mind because, compared to the whole population of the Roman empire and the world, the church in that day felt like a tiny group of people (8). No matter the scale of judgment that’s coming (a worldwide flood, persecution, or opposition), God can and will save His people, even in incredible ways. Peter’s great assurance to Christians is the same great assurance that Jesus left Christians in the Great Commission - Jesus rules over all.

Is it better to “shrewdly” squander someone’s wealth or be a “sons of light?”

Is it better to “shrewdly” squander someone’s wealth or be a “sons of light?”

Right after Jesus tells His most famous parable, the “Prodigal Son,” he teaches His listeners about a man who swindles his boss and is called shrewd for doing so. What’s even more confusing is Jesus says this man is “more shrewd” than the “sons of light.”

From the most famous to the most confusing and misinterpreted parable, Jesus teaches his followers how to live in a corrupt and unrighteous culture, especially when dealing with its wealth.

Join us as we make sense of this strange story and find out who these “sons of light” really are.

What Does The Bible Say About Making Moral Decisions #2

What Does The Bible Say About Making Moral Decisions #2

In this second episode about what the Bible says about making moral decisions, Arnie and Fred discuss some questions we ought to ask ourselves to help distinguish right from wrong.  We discuss whether or not God has expressly forbidden a particular activity, will it harm me physically, will it damage my influence and will it violate my conscience?  We ought also to consider whether it will weaken my faith, will it put me in association with  bad companions and will it appeal to unrighteous desires in me?   We talk about whether this activity will steal resources that belong to God which He has entrusted to me?  We discuss whether our actions could cause a brother or sister to stumble into sin.  Will what I consider doing enhance my godly thinking as well as that of others?  Finally, will the words or actions that I say or do bring glory to God and is it unquestionably right? We close out the discussion by noting that the Christian simply cannot compromise with worldliness and note what Jesus says about the matter. Take about 30 minutes to listen in on our discussion. Have your Bible handy so you can verify that what we are saying is what the Bible says about making moral decisions.

Psalm 15: But Wait! Psalm 14!

Psalm 15: But Wait! Psalm 14!

    Psalm 15

There is one really big problem as we read Psalm 15. We just read Psalm 14. And Psalm 14 says there isn't a single one of us out there who has lived like Psalm 15 describes. What are we to do about that? Edwin and Andrew discuss this today.

007 Seed of the Serpent, Seed of the Woman - Part 2

007 Seed of the Serpent, Seed of the Woman - Part 2
    • In this episode, we continue our look into the Seed of the Serpent and the Seed of the Woman. In what we think of as The Curse, God had told the Serpent that He would put conflict between his Seed and the Seed of the Woman. At the time, it wasn’t apparent what these two Seed were, but in the story of Cain and Abel, they begin to come into focus. We began looking at that in the last episode. Today, we want to continue what we started there, and watch these two lines materialize more fully.
