    In this episode of URMIA Matters, Craig McAllister, URMIA’s president and Assistant Vice President, Risk Management at University of Miami, talks to Mellany Patrong, Director- Enterprise Risk Management at Texas Southern University, and Nakeschi Watkins, Director, Risk Management and Insurance at Cornell University, who have recently been elected as URMIA board members. They share their stories of how they joined URMIA, what motivated them to run for the board, and what they hope to achieve in their new roles. Mellany and Nakeschi also discuss the benefits of being part of URMIA, such as networking, learning opportunities, and building a support system.     Problem Solved: URMIA Student Property Insurance Program

    URMIA members benefit from three different products and the latest in the portfolio is the Student Property Insurance Program (SPIP)!  Launched in 2020 amidst the pandemic, the program is being relaunched with an awareness campaign as we head back to campus this fall. Hear how this program made life easier for Risk Analyst Evan Ferguson at Auburn University and benefited Auburn parents, students, and staff. Bailey Howard at Gallagher is a true partner on the program and helps dispel the myths around insuring student property.     Emir Abderrazak Bader Chan Pascha und sein Kampf für unabhängigen Kurdistan

    Wir haben am 09.12.2018 die erste Sendung dem Kampf von Dynastie Bader Chan Pascha gegen Osmanischen Herrschaft in Nord-Kurdistan(Türkei) gewidmet.

    Gestern am 23.12.2018 haben wir zweite Sendung diesem Thema gewidmet.

    Diesmal in Mittelpunkt steht  Emir Abderrazak Bader Chan: Enkelkind des Legendären Kurdischen Emir Bader Chan Pascha und Führer des Aufstandes gegen Osmanen im Jahre 1847. Sein Vater war  Najib Pascha Bader Chan, der ältester Sohn von Bader Chan Pascha.

    Emir Abderrazak Bader Chan wurde im Jahre 1864 in Istanbul und hat Orientalistik und Französische Sprache studiert.

    Er hat den russischen Botschafter in Istanbul Tscharikov kennengelernt, der Ihn geholfen hat in Russland Asyl zu bekommen, und im Oktober 1910 ist Emir Abderrazak Bader Chan über Sewastopol nach Tiflis gereist. Abderrazak wollte ursprünglich nach Jerewan fahren um nahe der Kurden in der Türkei zu bleiben, aber die russische Regierung hat den Politischen Druck aus Istanbul nachgegeben und seine Ansuchen wurde abgelehnt.

    Er hat mit russischer Hilfe und Unterstützung von Simko Agha Schkaki  in Ost-Kurdistan( Iran) in der Stadt Choye eine Schule eröffnet und auch eine Zeitung: Jihan Zani( die Welt des Wissens) herausgegeben. Seine politische und Kulturelle Tätigkeit ist vielfältig, und sehr interessant.Wir werden in der nächsten Sendung über ihn berichten.
