Porch Pirates | Stop The Madness

Porch Pirates | Stop The Madness

Sometimes you have to sit and wonder, what goes through one’s mind to be willing to risk it all for a package. A package that was not addressed to them, with items that were not bought by them, but for some reason they feel it’s okay to go on someone’s porch and take them.

Just how serious is the Porch Pirate madness? Well, findings show thousands of packages are stolen each year and the valuation of the goods in those packages has well surpassed $1 Billion. With this being such a prevalent issue in the past year due to a good number of people falling on hard times, solutions are being implemented to deter this from happening further. From remote lockers to enhanced delivery instructions, changes are being made to better protect the consumer, the seller, and shipper.

We’d like to welcome you to our Fifth Episode of Authentic Filters: Porch Pirates | Stop The Madness. If you’ve had packages stolen off your porch, we’d love to hear your story. Also, Let us know your thoughts below. If you enjoyed this episode, please head over to Apple Podcast or wherever you listen to Share with others, subscribe, and leave a 5-star review.

Ep 115 Heritage Breed Stamp(ede) Forever - Thank You USPS!

Ep 115 Heritage Breed Stamp(ede) Forever - Thank You USPS!

Many countries use stamps as a way to tell people about their culture and their history, all in a little corner of a piece of paper.  It’s a great PR opportunity to have a publicly-visible thing that can be very personal to those that send, and those that receive, and maybe some others along the way.

Today, on May 17, 2021, it’s only fitting that Mount Vernon, Virginia (the home of George Washington’s…donkey) will host the United States Postal Service and their new release of the Heritage Breed Stamp series.  It is a much-anticipated and much-needed PR boost to help celebrate some of the amazing diversity our agricultural universe holds, and these are but a few of the animals that reflect our cultures, our peoples, our differences and our strengths:

    -The Mulefoot Hog
    -Wyandotte Chicken
    -Milking Devon Cow
    -Narragansett Turkey
    -American Mammoth Jackstock Donkey
    -Cotton Patch Goose
    -San Clemente Island Goat
    -American Cream Draft Horse
    -Cayuga Duck
    -Barbados Blackbelly Sheep

Stamps are kind of like DNA, are they not?  A story of where we’ve been, where we’re going, and who we are, all wrapped up in a little thing that does its job every day, but often is taken for granted.   A very intimate, personal thing that has meaning and purpose and connection.  Sounds like a heritage breed DNA parallel to me.

We hope you support your postal service and your agricultural history by buying a set of the new Forever Heritage Breeds stamps, beautifully photographed by Aliza Eliazarov (who has promised to be on an upcoming podcast – stay tuned!).  Why not send a little piece of meaning and connection to someone you love?

18WT #015: What Does It Mean To You, To Be An American!

18WT 015:  In today’s Episode after a few jokes, and laughter, Janet asks Patrick “what does it mean to you to be an American? Janet tells Patrick, you know, some people call that “home grown, born and bred right here in the good ‘ol U.S. of A. you know, America. Patrick responds with “MERICA” as some like to say.

Now there are those that would describe that as Patriotic. And there are those that would describe that as Traitorous, don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya. This immediately brings up talk of the border, the illegals, the homeless. Janet heard that in San Diego they emptied out a stadium of homeless people to let immigrants live there. However, it is children, what do you do when it is children? In St. Louis, the news showed some men came to the border and dropped two young children over the border wall and ran away. How do you leave your children and run away? Janet cannot fathom that.

Patrick and Janet discuss how you will do anything to better your child’s life. But they throw in some jokes at the expense of Kyle, of course. And this turns briefly to the term “step-monster”.

Back on track after some singing…the border and America. They both believe you can come here legally and be an American. Then Patrick rewinds, briefly and they go over “the rules” again.   Born here, you are an American; came here, passed t

Guest Hanko Kiessner on sustainable packaging; The USPS charts a new course to keep it financially afloat; Demand is not going away for warehouse and DC space

In this episode, guest Hanko Kiessner, CEO of Packsize, discusses sustainable packaging. Sustainable packaging means more than just choosing materials that can be easily recycled. It also includes shipping products in the right-sized box best suited for them. Sustainable packaging can have ripple effects throughout our supply chains that not only are good for the earth, but bring savings to shippers' bottom lines.

We all know that the United States Postal Service has struggled for years financially. Customer habits have changed in the internet age, which puts pressure on a model developed around daily first-class mail service. This week, the USPS announced a 10-year plan aimed at solving some of its financial woes. Can it achieve the needed changes and successfully pivot to better compete on package deliveries?

The utilization of warehouse and distribution center space has grown tremendously over the span of the pandemic, as shoppers continue to order more of their goods through e-commerce. What is the outlook for the foreseeable future, and is there enough capacity in the industrial real estate market to meet surging demand?

It’s at the root of almost everything we count on...

There’s a word that most Americans consider dirtier than all others. We’re either on one side of it or another. And even those who are on its side are terrified to drop it. As usual, the word has a whole lot more nuance to it. And nuance isn’t what Americans want these days. Let’s explore, shall we?

What makes them the cool technology to have for distribution operations, and in what ways are they being deployed? Klappich shares the latest research Gartner has done into these fascinating and quickly-evolving technologies.

Many companies held on to their cash during the pandemic, and now there is more incentive to move forward on projects that have been kept on hold for the past year. New research predicts how companies will spend their money during the remainder of this year.

And earnings reports came out this past week for the fourth quarter of 2020. Two organizations in particular give us reason to hope that there are better days ahead for the supply chain industry and the overall economy. The United States Postal Service and XPO both showed profits in that quarter, but the challenges for getting back to normal are still enormous.
