Episode LXV - The Flight of Dragons

Episode LXV - The Flight of Dragons
I know there was some cool Catholic stuff about the diocese of Las Vegas becoming the 34th Archdiocese in the US and we’ll get to that and Neil and I plan on releasing an episode about that next week. In this episode Neil and I talk about what’s really important…The Rankin/Bass movie from 1982 “Flight of Dragons”. I know you’ve never seen it, I know you’ve never heard of it, but it’s a fairytale that marks the beginning of the modern broken fairytale and the conversion of Magic into Science. We have an interesting conversion, but keep in mind, we’re both a few whiskeys in at this point… Gratuitous sound clips * The Flight of Dragons (Title Song) - Don McLean (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogsNTmPAIaE) * LOTR The Fellowship of the Ring - Extended Edition - Bree (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmghV5AimjU&t=13s) * Wizard of Oz, Scarecrow's Mathematical Error... 8 - How to lead an impressive Job interview?

8 - How to lead an impressive Job interview?

First job interviews are often a terrifying event for the inexperienced--and for many, a source of stress that never goes away. Why is that?

Contrary to popular wisdom, problems with job interviews don't just happen because of an awkward situation or something you say during the interview. The trouble occurs much earlier: in our expectations of what we hope to get out of the interview itself.

Join Leopold Ajami and Ricardo Pinto in an open discussion about this topic to learn about the not-so-obvious ways you can turn a job interview from an interrogation into a conversation.

Some of the techniques discussed are from our online course: Supersonic Creativity. Check it out here: https://learn.novelphilosophy.academy/courses/supersonic-creativity

249 - H.P. Lovecraft, the Cthulhu Mythos, and the Horror You Love Today

Hope you have as fun listening to this one as I had making it! I had no idea prior to digging into this topic, that Lovecraft was so influential on modern horror. Like Stranger Things? Heavily influenced by Lovecraft. Like Stephen King's It? The cosmic monster who presents as Pennywise is a creature who could have come directly from the Cthulhu mythos. Much of the Twilight Zone, the X-Files, the BBC's Black Mirror and more - so influenced by Lovecraft. And, in a way, fictional universes like the Marvel cinematic universe and George Lucas's Star Wars universe - influenced by the cosmic worldbuilding of Lovecraft. We feel a lot of his influence today - but who was the man? We'll take a look at that as well - including the ugly parts. And we'll meet some of his creatures and dissect the structure of some of Lovecraft's most influential stories. A very Weird Tales edition of Timesuck awaits!

Bianca fills the middle with talking about Ford Fairlane a movie that she has seen way too many times and will probably continue to watch many more times.

    Amy
