See it Through in the Postseason

See it Through in the Postseason

Wayne and Zach are back to look at how the Rams played in the A-10 Tournament and review their second round loss to cross-town rival, Richmond. With the early exit from the A-10 Tournament, the Rams found themselves on the outside of the NCAA Tournament but did earn a bid to the NIT Tournament. Coach Rhoades encouraged the team to "See it Though" and continue the hard work throughout the postseason tournament, despite it not being the postseason tournament they wanted.

Eight Straight Wins & Right on the Bubble

Eight Straight Wins & Right on the Bubble

Wayne and Zach are recapping the last two games, on the road against UMass and at home against St. Bonaventure. The Rams took wins in each to extend their win streak to eight games and put them as a bubble team for the NCAA Tournament. The Rams still have to take on St. Louis on the road and have some success in the Atlantic 10 tournament. Wayne and Zach break it all down and look ahead to the respective tournaments. Follow along with Wayne's writing at Richmond.com/sports.

Capital City Classic Recap & Look at UMass and Closing Stretch

Capital City Classic Recap & Look at UMass and Closing Stretch

Wayne Epps, Jr. recaps VCU's win over the Richmond Spiders in the Capital City Classic rivalry game in what was VCU's first sellout home game of the season. A major factor in the win was the play of Mikeal Brown-Jones, who had all 11 of his points, a career high, after halftime and also grabbed a career-high seven rebounds -- in 11 second-half minutes.

Wayne then reviews the win over George Mason and looks ahead to the road game against UMass and final two games of the season, a home game against St. Bonaventure and on the road at St. Louis.

    Phantom Thread | Sonya Clark ’85 - Ep 10

    Phantom Thread | Sonya Clark ’85 - Ep 10

This month, the Lives That Speak podcast spoke to artist Sonya Clark ’85. We discuss the power of Sonya’s art, how curators put objects in conversation with one another, and one of Clark’s favorite media: textiles. Clark has added an afro to Lincoln’s pate on the $5 bill, sewn long rows of dreadlocks to a chair, and invited spectators to join her in painstakingly unraveling the Confederate battle flag until it’s just thread. The deconstruction of “monumental” cloth specifically—whether it’s flags, Black hair, currency, or literature—demonstrates the possibility and the power of undoing to, paradoxically, create something more whole.

    271: Bobby C. Martin, Jr.

    271: Bobby C. Martin, Jr.

It's been a while since we first had Bobby C. Martin, Jr. on Revision Path, so I'm glad to have a chance to really sit down and talk with him to kick things off for our final month of interviews for 2018.

As the co-founder and founding partner of the Original Champions of Design, Bobby's identity design system work sets him in a class all his own. Whether he's handling rebranding for the WNBA or creating an identity system for the Girl Scouts, Bobby has helped elevate companies around the world.

We started off by talking about the business of OCD, including how it's changed with the times, how they find clients, and what it's like working with and building a team. From there, we took things back to Bobby's early days in Virginia, and he shared the inspirations and memories which influenced him as a designer, and we also talked about design curriculum, as well as what it feels like for him to occupy space as such a well-known designer. Bobby wants everyone to know that you can make a living from being a designer, and putting everything you can into your work is the key to success!

    166: Karla Cole

    166: Karla Cole

I first heard about Karla Cole through a past guest -- Allan Cole (no relation). As one of Facebook's newest product designers, Karla works on one the composer unit, one of Facebook's most vital features that asks "what's on your mind" when you want to make a Facebook post.

Karla and I touched on a lot of topics, including design curriculum, how she approaches new projects, some of her dream projects, and her journey as a designer from North Carolina to Virginia to NYC to Facebook. Karla has some big goals for the future, and the combination of her enthusiasm and talent make her a force to be reckoned with in the design industry!
