Welcome on a journey of enlightenment as we celebrate the Goddess of Prosperity, Lakshmi, in a breathtaking Cosmic Scene. Learn about the richness of Vedic teachings as we explore the festival of Diwali, a beacon of light, prosperity, and victory, marked by the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya. Delve deeper into the symbolism of the lotus, a vital emblem in Hinduism, and the Sri Yantra, a geometric design, for Lakshmi, believed to bring wealth and prosperity.
Diwali is a festival of Light, and is one of the favorite festivals of Hindus which falls every year between the months of October-November. It is celebrated with joy all over India venerating Lakshmi, the Vedic Goddess of prosperity. Lakshmi inspires much devotion. Many of her names, Padma, Kamala, and Ambuja refer to the lotus. The lotus has powerful symbolism. While its roots are in the mud, its stalk rises clearly through the murky water, with its petals blossoming above, untouched by the mud. It is a symbol for rising above the material world through divinity, of being good in midst of negative influences. Like the lotus, the Goddess of Prosperity, Lakshmi, shows us how to access material wealth, or transcend it to gain spiritual progress. She is often shown with four hands, which are mean to represent the four goals of life according to the Vedas: Kama (love), Artha (wealth), Dharma (right purpose) and Moksha (liberation).
Lakshmi wears a red sari, with gold thread, representing wealth, beauty and fertility. Coins rains down from her palms, as she smiles blissfully.
Ever wondered how ancient hymns could influence your life? Parashakti Jill chants the powerful Sri Maha Lakshmi Ashtakam, as an honor to Lakshmi. We will unravel how this potent mantra can help manifest spiritual and material abundance. We'll help you comprehend the transformative power of this mantra in conquering great sins, attracting wealth, and combating adversaries. Certified Sanskrit Mantra Instructor, Jill Jardine, teaches 5 Lakshmi mantras for wealth and prosperity.
1) OM SHRIM KLIM MAHA LAKSHMIYEI SWAHA: (Ohm shreem ma-ha Laaksh-mee-yay Swa-ha) "Om and salutations to the great Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity. Foundation Lakshmi mantra to the feminine power of manifestation including the seed sounds "Shrim" for abundance, and "Klim" for attraction.

3) OM SHASTI DAYAYEI NAMAHA: (Ohm Shas-tee Da-ya-yay Na-ma-ha)

Thank you for tuning in to Dawn of an Era of Well-Being: The Podcast—now in our third season!
In this exciting new season we will turn our attention to focus on the world’s religions and observe how religious traditions— and their diverse perspectives— can share an active role in bringing us together with common purpose. Too often in the past, religion has been used as a wedge, pitting us against one another; in the era of “Well-Being” we will see how various spiritual practices can also have the opposite effect of uniting us in harmony. In this fashion, it may well be that the ancient wisdom traditions will be at center of the paradigm shift which ushers in a new era!
It has been argued, with good evidence, that Hinduism is the oldest ongoing spiritual tradition on this planet. Its distant and nebulous origins can be traced with some authority to the pre-Vedic period of the Indus Valley civilization, which takes it back to before 1750 BCE—though it probably goes back much farther, perhaps into what we consider “prehistoric” times. As the world’s third largest faith with close to one-and-a-half-billion practitioners, Hinduism is a significant force in world affairs both in current events and throughout history— Siddhartha Gautama was believed to have been an observant Hindu prior to assuming the role of The Buddha.
In order to delve deeper into the fascinating and complex essence of Hinduism, we are honored to have joining us the renowned spiritual leader and motivational speaker, Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, better known as Sadhviji. Originally from Los Angeles, Sadhviji is a graduate of Stanford University and holds a PhD in psychology. She has lived on the banks of the sacred Ganga river in the lap of the Himalayas for more than twenty-five years, the entire time engaged in spiritual service, wisdom teaching, sacred action, and deep spiritual practice.
Sadhviji is currently based in Rishikesh, India. She is the author of the bestselling memoir, Hollywood to the Himalayas: A Journey of Healing and Transformation, which recounts the joys and challenges that she faced during her journey to enlightenment, and those who helped her on the way. Now one of the preeminent female spiritual teachers in the world, Sadhviji serves as the Secretary-General of the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance, an international interfaith organization dedicated to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene; President of Divine Shakti Foundation, a foundation that runs free schools, vocational training programs, and empowerment programs; and Director of the world-famous International Yoga Festival at Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Rishikesh—which has been covered in prestigious international publications and has been addressed by both the Prime Minister and Vice President of India.

S2 E24: Miscellaneous Indian Myths
What does your mind jump to when learning about various important tales from India? If your answer is the soundtrack to the 1978 movie Convoy, you might be Mark Bishop! In this last episode focusing on Indian mythology, we look at various important tales from India, such as the Birth of Ganga, in which King Sagara's 60,000 sons are turned to ash and his great-grandson Bhagirath prays for Ganga to come down from heaven and create the seven sacred streams of India. We also discuss the moralistic tales of The Elephant and the Crocodile and the King, Pigeon, and the Hawk. We also see yet another example of a beautiful woman bathing in a stream in the story of the Ashvin Twins, and we break down their attempt to join the pantheon of gods by convincing a woman to leave her elderly husband. As always, our stories are filled with consistent interruptions and tangents about semi-related topics! Follow us on Twitter! @UlmtdOpinions

Back in person and with more rambling than ever! On this episode, we look at some legends about the Hindu god Shiva, and his role as destroyer in the triumvirate of Vishnu, Brahma, and Shiva. We look at Shiva's birth, his wedding to Sati, and his dance of change. We also talk about the nature of destruction and preservation, the importance of a spouse, and a whole lot of off-topic nonsense! Follow us on Twitter! @UlmtdOpinions
S2 E20: Legends of Krishna
Krishna's major accomplishments: battling a monstrous snake, lifting an entire mountain with the tip of his finger, and...stealing clothes? In this episode, we continue our look at Indian mythology, covering the legends of Krishna's early life, from his birth and prophesy to defeat Kansa, his mischievous and powerful adventures as a boy, his battle with Kaliya, and his love of Radha. We also talk about the nature of love and loyalty, and how Krishna, Rama, and other heroes that we've covered so far follow the Hero's Journey!
S2 E19: Tales of the Ramayana
In this episode, we look at tales from the Ramayana, one of the epic Hindu poems. It tells the story of Rama and his brothers Bharata, Lakshman, Sutrughna, all embodiments of the great god Vishnu. We look at Rama's youth and exile, and how he rescued his wife Sita from the terrible evil of the rakshasa Ravana. We break down the morality tales and lessons that each episode of Rama's story gives to us, and how this first section of Indian mythology relates to other world mythologies. Hindu Mythology for Dummies
Bhakti Mathur grew up in Delhi, India, and with a graduate degree in economics and a postgraduate degree in finance from Delhi University pursued a career in banking for 22 years. In 2000, she and her husband moved to Hong Kong, which she now calls home and where both her children were born.
In 2010, unable to find a picture book on Holi, the Indian festival of colours, for her young sons, she decided to write one herself. This started the “Amma Tell Me” series, a collection of children’s picture books about Hindu festivals and mythology with 13 published titles.
She received an MFA in creative writing from Hong Kong University in 2017, then had her two course manuscripts published by Penguin India as Amma Take Me to the Golden Temple and Amma Take Me to Tirupati. These began the “Amma Take Me” series, exploring different faiths through their important places of worship. The series has four published titles.
Bhakti has conducted story-telling sessions and reading and writing workshops at schools and literary festivals in Hong Kong, Singapore and India. She freelances as a journalist and writes features on culture, health and fitness for the South China Morning Post.
Bhakti also loves hiking and running – she ran the New York Marathon in 2017 – and is currently studying yoga through the Iyengar Yoga in Depth programme. An avid reader, when not writing or chasing after her young boys, Bhakti is happiest curled up with a book in one hand and a hot cup of chai in the other.
