Rally: Together For Purpose (1 Sam 22:2)

Rally: Together For Purpose (1 Sam 22:2)

God always gives vision to his people. Sometimes there are clear breakthrough moments in time, where we receive fresh direction, and sometimes we continue walking steadily through long seasons of obedience, remembering what God has already said. 1 Samuel 22:2 has shaped the life and ministry of the Destination Church family, and our key vision for this year is a continuation of this. When we read that 400 men with problems gather to David, there is something strategic for us to see: they rally to a vision. They gather and are willing to be gathered. This word rally is key for usGod is rallying us together through Christ, together for our great city of Spokane, and together for the nations.

Contentment can be elusive. We get duped into thinking it can be found in career, romance, money, approval or a hundred other different ways. But experience says finding contentment in those areas of life will leave us empty. This is what makes Jesus' invitation to you so astonishing. Join us as we look at the greatest invitation ever given.

VISION SUNDAY - Love McLean County (Zach Thompson)

VISION SUNDAY - Love McLean County (Zach Thompson)
This week, Zach unpacks the church-wide vision, called "Love McClean County." What does it look like to love every person, every business, and every school in McLean county? As High School students, we have the opportunity to love people in our schools, clubs, and sports teams, and Zach encourages us to follow the commandments found in Mark 12 (Love God, Love People).

    Vision Sunday 2022

John re-preaches the Vision 2022 sermon preached earlier in the day by John Gunter and Jordan Santos. The sermon focuses on their motivations for ministry and what they see as essential for them going forward, and challenges the congregation to a closer relationship with Jesus. Will we be a church who diligently searches the scriptures, or will we be people who fuss when everything is not always exactly the same?

    1. Strengthen your knowledge of God’s word

Matthew 7:24–27   “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26  But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” (NIV)

1 Thessalonians 5:11 So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing. (NLT) James 1:22   Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (NIV)

Isaiah 54:2 “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. (NIV)

4 Ways To Lengthen Your Generosity

    1. Lengthen your generosity by going from giving nothing to giving something

    2. Lengthen your generosity by going from giving something to tithing

Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. (NIV)

    3. Lengthen your generosity by going from tithing to giving to Dream Builders

Malachi 3:8 “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offerings. (NIV)

    4. Lengthen your generosity by going from giving to Dream Builders to giving ridiculously to Dream Builders

2 Corinthians 8:2–5   In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. Entirely on their own, 4  they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. 5  And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us. (NIV)

2 Corinthians 8:13 Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. (NIV)

    Vision Sunday 2021

    Vision Sunday 2021

Vision Sunday. It’s the time of year when we lay out the vision for the upcoming year. To give a grand picture of what will be, of what could, or maybe even should be. But we are living in strange times. Maybe our Church needs, more than anything else, a personal vision of the change that God wants to bring in our personal lives. A vision of change in us.
