    72. An Inspired Conversation about Aging with Silver Liberation Influencer, Vanessa Chamberlin

Author and pro-aging influencer Vanessa Chamberlin joins me in this episode to discuss how to cultivate beauty from within, her decision to ditch the hair dye, and what it’s like to be a wellness influencer at this stage in her life.

After unexpectedly losing her husband, Vanessa channeled her grief into re-discovering herself and finding the gifts within this painful challenge. She became a certified nutritionist and discovered the deep connection between self-worth and food choices. Vanessa pulls back the curtain on her self-love journey and describes how she learned to free herself from the shame, guilt, and regret that was holding her back.

Part of Vanessa’s major life pivot also includes letting her hair go natural and embracing the gray. She started documenting the process on Instagram and has since gained over 71,000 followers and taken on multiple brand deals. Vanessa unpacks the broader message of her page, which is to release anything in your life that is no longer serving you.

    70. How to Manage Depleting Emotions, a Solo Episode with Dana Frost

    70. How to Manage Depleting Emotions, a Solo Episode with Dana Frost

There's pressure to start a new year feeling invigorated and inspired but that's not the experience for everyone.

I started 2023 feeling burdened with a resistant stye, cough, and cold along with feelings of melancholy.

Instead of stewing in these depleting emotions, I chose to be curious about the narrative I was telling myself about my health and depleted emotional state. I took this curiosity to my daily quiet time with an open heart and ears. The energy immediately shifted when I sat down in my daily sacred space. A sense of clarity rushed over me.

Your system will learn to trust you when you embrace the full landscape of your emotional experience. Everyday and every moment is a fresh start. It's okay if these first few weeks of January haven’t met expectations. Feeling the wide range of emotions make us human and relatable.

Listen in to hear more about my process for working through depleting emotions and healing from the inside out.

Don’t forget, if you would like me to do an entire solo episode on the idea of a quiet time, please let me know in my DMs or email

    64. Women's Health and Hormones with Dr. Beth Westie

    64. Women's Health and Hormones with Dr. Beth Westie

The history of nutrition is built from the male body and not the female body. Here lies the advocacy women need to have in doing their own research beyond the pharmacology of what the Doctor prescribes.

Dr. Beth Westie started her journey in female hormones by finding a different solution for eliminating ovarian cysts. There has to be a different route other than birth control. There is. Through her findings, she built an empire in female health education and her mission is to help women everywhere manage their hormones more organically.

In this episode, Dr. Beth Westie and I discuss how everything in the body is interconnected with our hormone production. When our brains are in a period of transition, our bodies are in a period of transition. The key is to listen to your body and give it what it needs. For most, it is a lack of sleep or, in general, rest. Take a nap, skip the workout, and give your body time to heal.

Another angle is to look at your nutrition intake. Are we getting enough of what our body needs to function properly? Protein, carbs, vitamins, and minerals? Our body needs fuel to run or even walk.

Listen in as Dr. Beth shares all of her resources on the Seven Bodies of Eve and how to accept the body you’re in, the season you’re in, and what to do to achieve your goals.

    Topics Covered:

    • Factors that affect your hormones 24/7
    • Hormones control how your system responds to food, environment, etc.
    • Top stressors in life can take your system a long time to regulate
    • Listen to your body and nap every day, allowing your body to heal
    • Seven bodies of Eve: What body are you in, what are your goals?

    Guest Info:

Dr. Beth Westie works to educate and empower women to take their health into their own hands. She uses nutrition to help women work with their natural cycle of their bodies to achieve lasting weight loss results. She is a Doctor of Chiropractic, Author, Speaker of Women's Health and Nutrition expert, and Founder of Eat for your Cycle and Nutrition for your Hormones. 63. A Coaching Tool for Feeling Younger and Bio Hacking Longevity

    63. A Coaching Tool for Feeling Younger and Bio Hacking Longevity

We all put up with environments, behaviors, and relationships that drain our energy and take up space in our lives. What’s an area of your life that you’re simply tolerating right now?

An easy way to take stock of where you're settling is to evaluate your living space. Your home is often a metaphor for how you feel inside. Does everything look neat and clean, but the drawers and closets are pure chaos? When there’s clutter in your physical space, it often creates confusion and blinders. It’s harder to connect with yourself and really listen to that wise inner voice.

In this episode, I explore how this toleration practice has supported me in my health and healing journey. I also discuss how doing this work has improved other facets of my life, including my relationships and experience as a mother.

My challenge for you this week is to tackle an area of your living space that you’re tolerating. Maybe you’re like me and have a catch-all drawer, or maybe you have a chair in your room that’s become a second wardrobe. Whatever it is, chip away at it until it fills you with peace and joy when you see it.

Listen in to hear more about my favorite coaching tool that you can use to close out this year feeling light, inspired, and ready for your next leap.

    61. A Longevity Strategy for Feeling Younger While Growing Older: Start Here with DANA FROST

    61. A Longevity Strategy for Feeling Younger While Growing Older: Start Here with DANA FROST

Guiding the aging process is a long-term project and I’m celebrating 11 years since I started to reverse engineer my biological age. In this episode, I break down my Functional Nutrition framework and tracking tool that will help you understand your baseline and get really clear on how you can improve your longevity strategy.

In order to feel younger while growing older, you need to know what's happening inside your body and be aware of how external exposures make an impact internally. One of the simplest ways to do that in the comfort of your own home is by tracking your food, mood, and elimination via urine and bowel movements.

I share tools to help you know what to look out for, like Vivoo and the Bristol Stool Scale. I also encourage all of my clients to examine their sleep quality, stress management, glucose levels, and energy levels after they exercise.

There are so many effective treatments and modalities out there that can support you, but your central nervous system will override all of your efforts on an unconscious level if you don’t do the emotional work first. If you haven’t already, listen to Episode 8 - Making Peace with Your Past and use that as a launching point.

Listen in to learn more about my healing journey and methodologies that have helped guide the way.

As we approach the holiday season, I want to offer a practice that feels really supportive and grounded. In this episode, I illustrate ways to embody gratitude and stream it to and from your heart center.

It’s no secret that gratitude has powerful healing energy. When you are truly in gratitude and allow yourself to sit in that feeling, it shifts your entire frequency. You can use focus, breath, and visualization to harness the self-healing powers of your mind.

I break down the four qualities of a healthy breath and share tools to regulate your inhales and exhales. I walk you through a heart focused breathing exercise that you can tune into daily for just a few minutes, and I promise it will help you navigate these next couple of busy months.

    58. Aging with Passion, Permission, Purpose, Persistence, and Perseverance with Andrea Nakayama

    58. Aging with Passion, Permission, Purpose, Persistence, and Perseverance with Andrea Nakayama

I am joined by Andrea Nakayama, an internationally-known Functional Medicine Nutritionist, educator, and speaker who is leading a movement to transform the health industry into a system that WORKS, empowering patients and practitioners alike with the systems and tools of Functional Nutrition.

Andrea is celebrated as a leader in the field of Functional Nutrition because of her unique ability to teach and inspire practitioners and patients alike. Andrea synthesizes art and science, empathy and physiology, intuition and problem solving, into a system that truly helps people get to the root cause of their illness, create a path towards wellness, and find their way back to life.

Andrea joins us to discuss the power of purpose with passion throughout the life cycle.

I started studying with functional nutritionist and lifestyle practitioner Andrea Nakayama in 2016, and I’m thrilled to have her on the show to share her framework and perspective on purpose. Andrea dives into ‘The 5 P’s’: passion, permission, purpose, persistence, and perseverance. She illustrates the interconnected nature of these five concepts and gives examples of how to implement them into your journey of feeling younger while growing older.

When it comes to purpose, there’s an effect called the positive psychological construct that has a profound effect on our mental health and cognition as we age. It can be challenging to look within and process the ebbs and flow of life. Andrea shares some helpful exercises that can support the practice of listening in without judgment and finding out what really lights you up.

Part of that process involves appreciating your past and stepping into the love that you deserve. We’re often taught to sacrifice our boundaries in order to please other people. We discuss examples of what that has looked like in our lives and how we choose to practice radical self-care instead. Listen in to hear more of Andrea’s wisdom on purpose and graciously taking care of yourself as you age.

    57. Immune Health with Tina Anderson of Just Thrive Health, Probiotic and Supplement Company

One of the most important parts of my wellness routine is taking a daily spore-based probiotic from Just Thrive, a cutting-edge supplement company. On today’s episode, I’m joined by the co-founder of the company, Tina Anderson, to learn more about the science behind some of the Just Thrive bestsellers and discuss why optimizing your gut health is crucial to feeling younger while growing older.

What sets a spore-based probiotic apart from conventional options is its ability to survive the gastric system and get to the intestines alive. Spore-based probiotics can actually change the microbial environment in a positive way一it’s not just a band aid solution. In fact, Just Thrive conducted a study showing that spore-based probiotics are actually helping increase the amount of keystone strains, or beneficial gut bacteria, that we all have in us.

Tina and I talk about the different gut offenders that we face on a daily basis and how taking a spore-based probiotic can help boost your immunity to those toxins. Tina highlights other interesting, valuable combinations of Just Thrive products, including the prebiotic, Just Calm, and Gluten Away.

On today’s episode, I’m sharing my thoughts about self-acceptance, the ebb and flow of life, and normalizing the valley periods that we all experience.

It takes a lot of courage to sit with the discomfort and move through conditions that put us in the valley. Accidents, divorce, loss of a loved one, natural disasters, the list goes on and on with events that can trigger physiological, mental, and emotional breakdowns. But, when you resist the urge to emotional bypass and actually put in the work that’s required to overcome those challenges, that’s when you develop the muscle to reach the mountaintop.

When we allow ourselves to rest and relax, we have space for the self-acceptance that’s required during those low moments. Listen in to learn more about how you can support yourself during the ups and downs of life to become a more resilient human being.

We're at record levels of people struggling with chronic conditions and not being served. After feeling unsupported during her own health journey, functional lifestyle practitioner Kate Smith wanted to reach a community of people that have limited access to resources. She’s a volunteer at Dream Centers, a non-profit women’s health clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In our conversation, we discuss the services that Dream Centers offers and talk about how to scale their mission to reach more people who are in desperate need of healing.

With a team of chiropractors, physical and massage therapists, sonographers, therapists, counselors, nurse practitioners, and nutritionists, Dream Centers provides integrative and comprehensive healthcare solutions to low-income and uninsured women. Kate and I chat about the unique approach that the clinic has to uncover the root causes of symptoms. She shares a powerful patient success story that illustrates the power of the mind-body approach to healing.

    53. State of Modern Healthcare and the Industrialized Medical Model, Is Big Pharma Serving Positive Health Outcomes? BioHacking Conference Update

    53. State of Modern Healthcare and the Industrialized Medical Model, Is Big Pharma Serving Positive Health Outcomes? BioHacking Conference Update

The US life expectancy at birth is at its lowest since 1996, but meanwhile, we spend the highest amount on healthcare per capita than any other nation in the world relative to our wealth. On today’s episode, I’m pulling back the curtain of what's been going on within the US healthcare system and what the statistics really show.

Two of the leading causes of death in the US, heart disease and liver issues, are conditions that are both preventable and figure-out-able. Decreasing inflammation is easily done through diet and lifestyle changes, and I’m living proof that it’s possible to reverse chronic conditions. But, these modalities don’t provide any financial gain for corporations and Big Pharma. To date, the largest drug companies make higher profits than the largest companies of any other sector. Our healthcare budgets are increasing while health outcomes are decreasing.

So, where do we go from here? Luckily, lifestyle medicine, functional medicine, and holistic practitioners are showing some positive health outcomes for people with chronic disease and pain. I’m urging you to take your health into your own hands and get curious about how you can truly heal.

Listen in to hear my thoughts about the current state of healthcare in the US and where I see possible solutions.

    52. Losing Track of Time to Optimize Longevity plus an Update from Grandma Land

    52. Losing Track of Time to Optimize Longevity plus an Update from Grandma Land

When was the last time that you lost track of time? Being with my newborn grandson has reminded me of the wonders of nature and humanity. Watching him inhale and exhale, open his eyes, and develop has been a beautiful experience. With automation and the rapid pace of technology, we have less opportunities to observe and tap into a flow state, but in today’s episode, I’m sharing a couple of techniques that help me get back to place.

I’ve been exploring my relationship with goal-setting and achievement lately and realized that striving often crowds out wonder. I’ve been working on mimicking nature and simply receiving what comes my way instead of overworking. Sitting and observing the world around me, also called sit spot, has helped me connect deeper with myself and revisit different lessons that I’ve received from nature over the years.

This precious time with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson has strengthened my belief that we are stronger in community. Together, we have more to offer. Listen in to hear more of my reflections from my first week as a grandmother.
