    The Collonades to Herod's Temple

    The Collonades to Herod's Temple

Josephus was given the job of recording history by the Romans because he was so accurate and detailed. Yet the Jews, and most Christians, choose to ignore his information about Herod's Temple. Josephus records that two arms or collonades extended from the Roman Antonia Fortress to the Temple. The model of Jerusalem and the Temple totally ignores this important feature and misleads people about the layout of Jerusalem and the Temple prior to the Roman destruction in 70 A.D.

The Temples of Solomon and Herod

The Temples of Solomon and Herod

Can you imagine the upheaval in political and religious thinking if the Temple Mount in Jerusalem is not the site of Solomon's and Herod's temples? And what if the stones of the Wailing Wall are not what tradition says? In this highly-researched, exciting podcast, the author proposes from current archaeological excavations, and Scriptural corroboration, that the true temple location is NOT where tradition teaches.

Homily: 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Certainly listening to today’s readings of apocalyptic literature, dealing with end times as well as the destruction of the temple may make some of us squirm a bit in our seats. But if you look carefully at when and why it was written you realize that this scripture is not about future events rather it is about imminent reality – the here and now.  So where does our focus need to be? And what insight can theologian N.T. Wright provide which just may open our eyes to where God is present?  Check it out…
